Kennedy Holmes, finalist of season 15 on NBC's The Voice, has been added to the entertainment line-up at the Arts and Education Council's St. Louis Arts Awards on January 21. She will perform alongside acclaimed jazz pianist Peter Martin, a 2012 Excellence in the Arts recipient. The performance is a nod to Lifetime Achievement in the Arts recipient Ken Page, with whom Holmes appeared in The Muny's "Aida" in 2016, and Champion of the Arts recipient Sue Greenberg, company manager at The Muny and executive director of St. Louis Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts.
The “Blind Auditions” continue as superstar coaches Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton all vie to discover and coach the next singing phenomenon in the 'Blind Auditions.' The vocalists compete to be selected by one of the coaches and fight for a chance to be named 'The Voice.' Carson Daly ('TODAY Show') hosts. Adding another layer of excitement this season is the introduction of the “Comeback Stage,” where six deserving artists who did not make a team during the Blind Auditions compete for a chance to re-enter the competition in the live shows.
Perhaps the best way to approach Dickens' venerable A CHRISTMAS CAROL is straight-forward, with a generous helping of music, sterling performances, and some cool effects to liven up the proceedings. After all, the story, which dates from 1843, has been reworked, parodied, and used as a device by nearly every sitcom and animated show ever made. So, what's old seems new again in The Repertory of St. Louis' current presentation for the holidays. And, what a treat it is. David H. Bell's adaptation is faithful to the spirit and language of the story, which occurs when the industrial revolution has wreaked havoc on the lives of both the old and young. Filled with energy and enthusiasm, this is an absolute must-see for the Christmas season!

The MUNY continues its season with an exuberant and colorful staging of HAIRSPRAY, the musical based on filmmaker and author John Waters' most accessible, and mainstream, movie. Of course, the master of bad taste allowed some of the rougher edges to get smoothed over in the process, but the core messages of understanding and acceptance in the face of prejudice and intolerance is still present, and that's what's truly important. Get out while the weather is gorgeous and take in the MUNY's fabulous production of HAIRSPRAY!
