Springs Ensemble Theatre ('SET') closes out its mainstage season with Keith Huff's stunningly brutal drama, A STEADY RAIN, opening October 10th and running through October 27th. Best friends since kindergarten, Denny and Joey now patrol the streets of Chicago as police officers. But a life spent dealing with drug dealers, pimps and prostitutes takes its toll. After one bad decision while on patrol one night, short-tempered Denny and recovering alcoholic Joey find themselves fighting for not only their friendship, but for their very souls. A dark duologue, A STEADY RAIN is a no-holds-barred look at friendship, family, and how far a man will go to protect them both.
Two men, a table, and two chairs comprise the entirety of A Steady Rain's stage picture at Springs Ensemble Theater. The play feels larger than that. Keith Huff's words paint a picture as violent, harrowing, and human as any film noir.
