Steppenwolf Sets First Look 2014 Lineup; Runs 7/26-8/24

Steppenwolf Theatre Company has announced the line-up for the ninth annual First Look Repertory of New Work, featuring three developmental productions of new plays presented in rotating repertory July 26 - August 24, 2014 in the Garage Theatre (1624 N Halsted St). First Look 2014 includes: Ironbound by Martyna Majok, Hushabye by Tanya Saracho and Okay, Bye by Joshua Conkel. The 2014 festival also features readings of two new plays, American Beauty Shop by Dana Lynn Formby and Opium Den by Julie Marie Myatt. Tanya Moodie to Star in INTIMATE APPAREL at Ustinov Studio, Bath; Cast Announced!

Following Dan LeFranc's THE BIG MEAL, directed by Michael Boyd and Keith Huff's gritty two-hander, A STEADY RAIN, directed by David Grindley, is the final production in the Ustinov Studio's American Season 2014 - Lynn Nottage's multi award-winning INTIMATE APPAREL, directed by Laurence Boswell, Thursday 29th May - Saturday 28th June.

Planet Ant to Present A STEADY RAIN, 5/2-24

Planet Ant veterans Ryan Carlson and York Griffith return with the police drama, A Steady Rain by House of Cards and Mad Men co-writer Keith Huff. This Detroit premiere will appear Friday & Saturday evenings and Sunday matinees May 2-24. Tickets ($10-$20) are on sale now at www.planetant.com.

Guthrie Director Joe Dowling today announced ten mainstage productions in his final season at the helm of the world renowned theater, culminating 20 years of remarkable leadership. The 2014-2015 lineup includes first-time Guthrie productions of plays by A.R. Gurney, Anne Washburn and Sarah Ruhl, three productions directed by Dowling, including a beloved Shakespeare comedy and iconic masterpieces by Arthur Miller and Sean O'Casey, the Guthrie debut of visionary writer and director Mary Zimmerman, as well as an all-American musical slated for summer.

Chicago Commercial Collective to Remount 5 LESBIANS EATING A QUICHE with Original Off-Broadway Cast, 5/1-6/8

The hilarious send-up of 1950s cold war repression and kitsch culture, "5 Lesbians Eating Quiche" was an original critically-acclaimed creation by The New Colony. This remount featuring the original off-Broadway cast is presented by the Chicago Commercial Collective, running May 1 to June 8 at the Chopin Theatre, 1543 W. Division Street. Kareem Bandealy Set for The Gift's OTHELLO

The Gift Theatre has announced that Kareem Bandealy will star as Othello and artistic director and ensemble member Michael Patrick Thornton will play villainous Iago in its production of William Shakespeare's tragedy Othello, directed by Jonathan Berry (Dirty). This marks The Gift Theatre's first Shakespeare production ever mounted in its intimate 40-seat theater and Berry's Shakespearean directorial debut.
