Anton Floyd, Jaime Lincoln Smith and Terrell Wheeler will star in Luna Stage's world premiere of Carnaval, Obie-Award winning playwright Nikkole Salter's provocative new play about the demand side of sexual tourism. Floyd, Smith and Wheeler, three young African-American actors, were attracted to the contemporary nature of the play upon first read, and impressed with Salter's ability to write from a male perspective.

With Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day just around the corner, The Alley is producing Katori Hall's play THE MOUNTAINTOP. The play premiered in London in 2009 to critical acclaim. It opened in New York on Broadway in October 2011 with Samuel L. Jackson as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Angela Bassett opposite him. Reviews in New York were mixed, but the show sold well and even recouped its initial investment during its final weekend in January 2012.
Martha Clarke & Branden Jacob-Jenkins Added to Signature Theatre's Residency Five Program

Signature Theatre (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) has announced that Martha Clarke and Branden Jacobs-Jenkins have joined the Residency Five program, which provides five-year residencies for multiple playwrights, guaranteeing three full productions of new work over the course of each playwright's residency. The other artists currently in the Residency Five program are Annie Baker, Will Eno, Katori Hall, Kenneth Lonergan, and Regina Taylor.

Blue Balloon Productions is proud to present a production workshop presentation of R-E-B-E-C-C-A, written and performed by Sara Farb. This unique solo piece is based on her sister who was born seven weeks prematurely in the month of May, and was diagnosed as mentally retarded at a very young age. The story centres on this real-life Rebecca, as well as on an alternate Rebecca - the one that might have been, had she been born in July - as they celebrate their respective 18th birthdays. These two Rebeccas, although universes apart, ultimately manage to find a connection and unite in a strange and powerful way.

The Alley Theatre's production of Katori Hall's The Mountaintop, produced in association with Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater in Washington D.C., will feature Bowman Wright as DR. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Joaquina Kalukango as Camae. The director is Robert O'Hara. The Mountaintop runs on the Alley Theatre's Hubbard Stage tonight, January 11 through February 3, 2013.

Paul Robinson has announced the full cast for his first production as sole Artistic Director of Battersea's Theatre503. Tony Award-winning actress Brid Brennan will star in Desolate Heaven, the world premiere by Irish writer Ailís Ní Ríain. She is joined by Evelyn Lockley and Carla Langley, who both make their professional debuts in this love story between two young girls, who burdened with unnatural responsibilities, run away together. It will run at Theatre503, above the Latchmere Pub in Battersea, from 5 February to 2 March 2013.
