Producing Artistic Director of the Philadelphia Theatre Company, Sara Garonzik, has released the following statement regarding ongoing negotiations with stagehands' union IATSE Local 8:

"Philadelphia Theatre Company today ended more than six hours of negotiations with the IATSE Local 8, the stagehands' union, with some progress made but no resolution. The union, however, has refused to confirm if they will meet tomorrow for the previously scheduled meeting, although PTC is available and willing to continue negotiations as planned.

"Today's matinee of The Mountaintop by Katori Hall was performed for a near sold-out and appreciative audience. PTC will continue its focus on presenting this powerful play despite the stagehands' strike. We will also continue our efforts to negotiate a reasonable contract that is fair to all parties.

"It is baffling that, while we are honoring the legacy about DR. Martin Luther King, Jr. who urged cooperation and consensus, the union is unsuccessfully attempting to disrupt this production with the stagehands' union walkout."
