Marrying the musical genius of Stephen Schwartz and the masterful energy of Bob Fosse, PIPPIN transports the audience through time and space as we follow a mysterious traveling carnival, led by a tantalizing Leading Player, to tell the story of Pippin. Pippin, a young prince, is on a quest to derive meaning and purpose out of his self-described extraordinary life. Intrigue and plots to bring disaster ensue as Pippin is led closer and closer to our Grand Finale by the ever alluring Leading Player. Featuring humor, romance, illusion, fantasy, battles, and most of all magic, PIPPIN will leave you with a Finale they won't soon forget.
What would you do if you met someone who had never seen a musical before? They have no concept of what goes into it - the dance breaks, the big ensemble numbers, the balance of humor and pathos. The Noel S. Ruiz Theatre's production 'On the Town' would be the perfect production to display what it means to be a musical. Although it teeters on the cliche at times, the production value and the performances make up for the sometimes flawed piece.
In a Grease-meets-Romeo & Juliet type of tale, the Tony nominated musical Cry-Baby brings loads of laughs. The Long Island premiere - running through May 12th at The Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center (CMPAC) - is superbly directed by Patrick Grossman - the Artistic Director of the Oakdale venue - and boasts an extraordinary cast. I've long admired the top notch comedic talent we have here on Long Island and the artists in this production certainly deliver sidesplitting performances.
CRY-BABY THE MUSICAL will run April 14 - May 12 at The Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center. For Tickets, call the Box Office at 631-218-2810 or visit www.CMPAC.com
I had the honor of seeing the original Broadway cast of the Tony winning musical Ragtime as my very first Broadway show. So, as you can guess, I am absolutely ecstatic to see that the Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center has added it to their fantastic Spring/Summer schedule. This exciting and well done incarnation, kicking off their 42nd season, is excellently directed by Matthew W. Surico running through March 24th at the adorable Oakdale venue.
Continuing its commitment to inspire kids, families and communities to create the future they imagine, Disney ABC Television Group debuts new 'Be Inspired' interstitials this month on ABC, Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney XD.
'Hamiltease Vol. 1: Wait For It' is a young, scrappy, and hungry Burlesque parody and tribute show inspired by Lin-Manuel Miranda's hit Broadway musical Hamilton. We bet you won't be able to say no to this tantalizing theatrical burlesque show, brought to you by a diverse cast of burlesque artists who will never be satisfied until they share their Hamilton fandom and four sets of corsets with you. It'll still be a few months before the touring cast of Hamilton arrives in Los Angeles, so don't throw away your shot at some Hamilton-related fun, as there will also be a singalong hosted by the Cabinet of Hamiltunes LA, as well as a Hamilton cosplay contest!
