The Atlanta Opera has announced that five creative teams have been selected to participate in the second annual 96-Hour Opera Project, a composition competition and showcase that pairs composers and librettists to write ten-minute operas. Bringing their completed works to Atlanta, the teams will workshop and rehearse their productions over four days from June 9–12, with travel, housing, singers, pianists and rehearsal space provided.

The Off-Central Players continue their Spring Season with Karen Zacarias’ “hot-button”comedy that packs all of the punches. Onstage from March 15-26, and directed by Jack Holloway, Native Gardens is not your average comedy. During its prologue, we meet Tanya and Pablo, a young “Millennial,” couple having just moved into a well-established neighborhood filled with the most unlikely of neighbors. Tanya is expecting a child anytime, and Pablo is on the partner track at the law firm in which he is dutifully employed. The house they decide to settle down in is a bit of a fixer-upper and is right next door to Frank and Virginia Butley. Frank and Virginia are of an older generation and have an established home in the neighborhood complete with a beautifully, meticulously kept garden.

Jason Alexander directs L.A. premiere of Steven Levenson’s funny, powerful ‘If I Forget’ at Fountain Theatre

The Fountain Theatre presents a deeply personal play about history, responsibility, and what we're willing to sacrifice for a new beginning. Tony Award-winning actor Jason Alexander, widely known from TV's Seinfeld, directs the Los Angeles premiere of If I Forget by Steven Levenson, running July 23 through September 10 on the Fountain's indoor stage. Previews begin July 20.

GableStage, the Coral Gables based theatre company that has made its home in the Biltmore Hotel for over 24 years, announced its 2022-23 season. Five new productions, which illuminate the company’s mission of “confronting today’s issues and ideas” will account for 130 performances from October - July. City Theatre Company, Pittsburgh’s home for contemporary plays, has announced the details of the theatre’s 48th season of bold, new works, beginning in September 2022. City Theatre’s second season post-pandemic shutdown will feature five plays with first-time and returning artists, plus special events.  

Kentwood Players presents NATIVE GARDENS, a comedy by multi-award winning Latina playwright Karen Zacarias.  Directed by George Kondreck and produced by Kathy Dershimer for Kentwood Players with rights secured from Samuel French, Inc., featured in the cast are Marina Portillo as Tania Del Valle; Robert Anaya as Pablo Del Valle; Phyllis M. Nofts as Virginia Butley; and Steve Izant as Frank Butley.
