Julia Bullock to Release First Solo Recording in December

The album features Samuel Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 and the aria “Memorial de Tlatelolco” from John Adams’s El Niño – featuring London’s Philharmonia Orchestra and conductor Christian Reif. With Reif as pianist, Bullock performs “City Called Heaven” and songs by Oscar Brown, Jr., Billy Taylor, Sandy Denny, and Connie Converse.

MasterVoices has announced details of the chorus’ 81st season, celebrating the power of the human voice to unite, inspire and connect since 1941. The 2022-23 season opens on October 25 at the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center with Mr. Sperling leading a concert staging of Bizet’s Carmen in its original Opéra Comique version.

The Cecilia Chorus Of New York Presents SHAKESPEARE...AND MORE! A Musical Dreamscape

In its final concert of the season, The Cecilia Chorus of New York, Mark Shapiro, Music Director, will present Shakespeare...and more! The program features the World Premiere of Caroline Mallonee's cantata With Streaks of Light, and includes chamber works inspired by and relating to Shakespeare. Wednesday, May 25 at 7:30 PM at The Church of St. Francis Xavier, 46 W. 16th St., between 5th and 6th Aves in Manhattan.

Cleveland Orchestra Releases Lineup for 105th Season

Today, The Cleveland Orchestra announces its 105th season of concerts at Severance Music Center from September 2022 to May 2023. Marking the 21st year of the ensemble’s acclaimed partnership with Music Director Franz Welser-Möst, showcasing extraordinary artistry and more ways of sharing music-making across multiple platforms. Highlights include 20 guest artist debuts, acclaimed guest conductors, and thirteen works being performed for the first time by The Cleveland Orchestra, including four world premieres and one U.S. premiere. National Symphony Orchestra Announces Classical Programming For 2022–2023 Season

The National Symphony Orchestra, led by Music Director  Gianandrea Noseda and Executive Director Gary Ginstling, announces its classical  programming for the 2022–2023 season. The new season, during which Maestro Noseda appears in 14 programs and leads a total of 36 concerts, embodies the special connection between  Orchestra and Music Director that has strengthened over the past five years.

Robert Icke's HAMLET and ORESTEIA Come to Park Avenue Armory in June

BWW Review: Technology Is in Control as We UPLOAD the Future at the Park Avenue Armory

I couldn’t help thinking of a new science fiction-comedy series on Amazon during the local premiere of UPLOAD, the opera by Michel van der Aa at the Park Avenue Armory on Tuesday. Both had the same name. Both explore a near future where technology controls everything, including the afterlife, as a person can choose to “upload” its consciousness to continue living digitally. Both pose questions, though in different ways, about humanity, technology, consumerism, and so on.

The American Modern Opera Company Receives $750,000 Grant From The Mellon Foundation

The American Modern Opera Company (AMOC), led by Artistic Director Zack Winokur, has received a $750,000 grant from the celebrated Andrew W. Mellon Foundation “to support visionary artists in collaborative processes that re-envision a long-enduring art form in an artist-centric and contemporary manner.”
