As only the third American opera company in history to reach this centennial milestone, the Company’s 2022–23 Season will honor San Francisco Opera’s glorious past while inviting the public into an exciting new era of musical excellence under Kim’s music directorship and a renewed commitment to innovation.

With the unique ability to experience colors sonically (i.e. synesthesia), Sorey largely drew inspiration from the fourteen canvases created for the Chapel by 20th-century painter Mark Rothko, who also influenced the building's design. Embodying harmony, meditation and art, Monochromatic Life (Afterlife) strives to portray what it means not only to hear music, but also to experience it.

On Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 7:30pm, the pioneering International Contemporary Ensemble and composer and multi-instrumentalist Tyshawn Sorey will be presented as part of NYC FREE, a new one-time-only multidisciplinary festival at Little Island. The Ensemble and Sorey will perform the composer's 45-minute Autoschediasms.

As it prepares for its 2021-2022 concert season, The Cecilia Chorus of New York has announced the launch of a new organizational logo. The 150-voice chorus has been a highly regarded fixture of the NYC choral scene for over a century, performing at Carnegie Hall and other venues.
