The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (Central) and MENA Arts UK are pleased to announce a new associateship which will work to promote and celebrate MENA/SWANA voices and to strengthen links between higher education arts training and the industry.   

On Monday 18 March, the acclaimed Spanish actress and director Nuria Espert was awarded the Degree of Doctor of Literature (Honoris Causa) from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London.

Michael Grandage CBE has announced that he will stand down as President of The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama after 12 years in post.

This February, innovative Canadian theatre company Why Not Theatre will launch ThisGen 2021 Fellowship, the second annual national initiative that supports BIPOC Female, Trans, and Non-Binary artists get to the next stage in their careers through training, mentorship, guided self-study, and peer-to-peer connection.

THE TEMPEST is coming to The Citadel Theatre in Edmonton from April 20 to May 12, 2019.

Revenge, love, and magic take centre stage in a dramatic re-imagining of William Shakespeare's final play, The Tempest, beginning this month at the Citadel Theatre. The production, featuring the 2019 participants of the Citadel/Banff Centre Professional Theatre Program, is directed by Josette Bushell-Mingo, former director of Tyst Teater, Sweden's National Deaf Theatre.

Citadel Theatre is proud to recognize Wednesday, March 27, as World Theatre Day. Created in 1961 by UNESCO, World Theatre Day is celebrated annually on March 27 by theatre communities around the globe.

In celebration of its 50th anniversary as it's poised for a major capital redevelopment project of its current site, Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre (NBT) is taking it to the streets with a robust season of programming and partnerships that transcends the walls of its building. As a cultural anchor in Harlem for the last half century, NBT has been at the forefront of transforming lives and community through the power of theater. Through its new program, NBT Beyond Walls, the institution will now produce activities citywide, nationally and internationally. Highlights of NBT's 50th season include partnerships and programming with Carnegie Hall, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and the World Famous Apollo Theater; the national tour of the critically acclaimed one-woman show The Peculiar Patriot; and the ongoing cultural exchange with the international sister institution, the National Black Theatre of Sweden, established in Stockholm in November 2018. Founded in 1968, the oldest continually run Black theater in New York City and one of America's longest continually operated theaters run by women of color will celebrate its half-century mark through October 2019.

The new Citadel Theatre season, which kicked off September 22, features many brilliant, accomplished artists - local, national, and international - who will appear on the Citadel stages in the upcoming months.
