Asheville Creative Arts (ACA), Asheville's professional children's theatre, completes its 7th season with CHARLOTTE'S WEB. Adapted by Joseph Robinette from the beloved children's book by E.B. White, this production is directed by Abby Felder, features original folk music from Jonesalee (Gina Stewart and Brenda Gambill), puppets, costumes and sets by Edwin Salas Acosta, musical direction by Kylie Irvin, choreography by Isabelle Bowser, dramaturgey by Alex Smith, lights by Jason Williams with outreach from ACA's Community Development Director, Daniele Martin, and production and marketing support from Brook Bresnan. CHARLOTTE'S WEB will run at Magnetic 375 (375 Depot Street) from July 18-28, with public performances Fridays at 7, Saturdays at 4 (with all tickets pay-what-you-wish), and Sundays at 1pm (tickets to Friday and Sunday performances $12 for students and $23 for adults). A limited number of tickets to the public are available for weekday matinees, July 18 at 1pm, July 23-26 at 10am and 1pm. Tickets and more info at www.ashevillecreativearts.org.

Family-Friendly Fabulous Fables Are Coming Soon to a Park Near You

STUART LITTLE Opens March 16 At Sierra Madre Playhouse

Each year, Sierra Madre Playhouse presents a show especially for young audiences. In 2019, the show is Stuart Little, innovatively staged with puppets, projections and original music. Performances for school field trips start on March 11 with over 3000 tickets sold, but the Playhouse will present a limited number of performances to the general public as well, with an official public opening on March 16. The play is ideal for audience members aged 4 to 10, but their entire families can enjoy it as well.

Theater Schmeater Announced Lineup for The Nomad Season

The decision to leave Belltown was not made easily. The theater's board and directors knew that giving up their own space to become a nomadic theater was a risk that would come with many challenges, but the cost of occupying the Belltown space was rapidly increasing to more than the income from a 50-seat theater could sustain. Theater Schmeater's Board President Rachel Sorrels notes that Because we value our artists and the art we put on the stage above everything else, we are willing to take that risk and face those challenges. Acting artistic director Andrew Shanks calls this a time of change and renewal for us as a company.

MCP Kids! To Present Inaugural Show THE GREAT AMERICAN TALENT SHOW

The Monmouth Community Players have announced the inaugural show of their new MCP Kids! Program, in which they will be working to provide theater education and opportunities for acting and technical theater experience for area youth. This first show being produced is titled The Great American Talent Show by Joseph Robinette and is produced through special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service Inc, Denver, CO. The performances will be held at historic Cumston Hall today February 22nd at 7pm and Saturday February 23rd at 2pm. Tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for students. The show is being helmed by local thespian, Danny Gay, whom you may have seen in MCP's The Foreigner, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and more. Gay is very excited to be able to bring a children's theater program to the area.

Alberta Theatre Projects Announces Their 2019/2020 Season

The new season includes a world premiere, two hot-button dramas, a classic children's fantasy, a rock concert/music-theatre mash-up, and a party you won't want to miss. Alberta Theatre Projects announced their 48th season line-up that will run from September 2019 to May 2020. With a return to a six-play season and longer show runs, the season is the first programmed by ATP's Executive and Artistic Director Darcy Evans.

Kearse plays Motown founder and record executive Berry Gordy in Ain't Too Proud, a hit new musical about the life and times of The Temptations. Immediately following Sound of Freedom Kearse will join his Ain't Too Proud castmates in New York City for a Broadway run of the musical at the Imperial Theatre, reprising his role as Gordy.
