The Alley Theatre and Interim Artistic Director James Black announce the cast and crew of the 2018-19 Hubbard Season opener, Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare, directed by Jonathan Moscone. The Alley presents an inventive, nontraditional, yet faithful production of Twelfth Night set in the 1930s that showcases not only the resident acting company, but also a diverse group of performers making their Alley debut. The play runs October 5-28, 2018 in the Hubbard Theatre. Tickets are available at alleytheatre.org or by calling the Box Office at 713.220.5700.
The Steve Silver Foundation And Beach Blanket Babylon Announce 2018 Scholarship Finalists!

Jo Schuman Silver, producer of Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon, announced today the nine Bay Area high school seniors selected as finalists for The Steve Silver Foundation and Beach Blanket Babylon "Scholarship for the Arts." Each of the finalists will perform live in front of family, friends and a panel of celebrity judges on Monday, June 4. One winner in each category-singing, dancing, and acting-will be presented with a $15,000 check to be used towards their college education. The nine high school senior finalists who will perform are:

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.)Conservatory Director Melissa Smith announced today that honorary Master of Fine Arts degrees will be conferred on A.C.T. Artistic Director Carey Perloff, as well as acclaimed actors, directors, and teaching artists Steven Anthony Jones and Gregory Wallace. Perloff, Jones, and Wallace will receive their degrees at the graduation ceremony for the A.C.T. Master of Fine Arts Program class of 2018 on Monday, May 21 at 11 a.m. at A.C.T.'s Geary Theater (415 Geary Street, San Francisco).

Theatre veteran John Hull draws on his love of theater for a suite of one-act comedies set in the world behind the curtain. Backstage Stories is a co-production of San Francisco's 16th St. Players and The Masquers Playhouse of Point Richmond. It is directed by Katina Letheule. Backstage Stories runs for three consecutive weekends, October 27-November 12, at the Mission Dolores Academy Auditorium, 3371-16th Street (between Dolores & Church) in San Francisco.

The American Theatre Wing nominated two plays commissioned by the Oregon Shakespeare Festival for 2017 Tony Awards today, including Best Play. Commissioned through OSF's American Revolutions: The United States History Cycle, Sweat by Lynn Nottage and Indecent by Paula Vogel each received three nominations.
