Hennepin Theatre Trust and the Cedar Cultural Center announced that Brazilian superstar vocalist-composer MARISA MONTE will play the historic State Theatre (805 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis) on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 8 p.m.

Despite the unusual instrumentation of the ensemble, however, Triple Double is at its core a group of six distinctive individuals, each among the most innovative and singular voices in contemporary creative music – drummers Tomas Fujiwara and Gerald Cleaver, guitarists Mary Halvorson and Brandon Seabrook, and trumpeter Ralph Alessi and cornet player Taylor Ho Bynum. 

On Thursday, November 4, 2021, violinist Pauline Kim Harris will feature the latest iterations of her Chaconne Project in two sets at Arts on Site (12 St. Marks Pl.). In the 6:30pm set, she will perform solo works from her new album Wild at Heart in celebration of its October 22 release on Sono Luminus.

New England Conservatory's internationally renowned Contemporary Improvisation (CI) Department hosts groundbreaking guitarist, composer, and improviser and MacArthur fellow Mary Halvorson for a three-day residency Tuesday, October 5 – Thursday, October 7.

On Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 7:30pm, the pioneering International Contemporary Ensemble and composer and multi-instrumentalist Tyshawn Sorey will be presented as part of NYC FREE, a new one-time-only multidisciplinary festival at Little Island. The Ensemble and Sorey will perform the composer's 45-minute Autoschediasms.

The 23-track compilation features Violent Femmes’ biggest hits, including “Blister in the Sun,” “American Music,” and “Gone Daddy Gone,” plus live recordings of favorites like “Add It Up,” and “Kiss Off,” alongside a trove of demos, B-sides, interstitial voice recordings, and rarities.

The Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts presents Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers, streamed live, on Thursday, April 22 at 7 PM, in a program of works that features the world premiere of The Wind, performed by Kun-Yang Lin himself.

Trained in both jazz and classical music, West Coast-based pianist Dahveed Behroozi is the uncommon musician to earn endorsements from icons in both disciplines. Ursula Oppens, a renowned virtuoso of contemporary classical music, has praised Behroozi's “creativity, curiosity and integrity,” adding that “his performances are stunning, his interpretations astonishing.” Likewise, jazz piano star Fred Hersch has described Behroozi's music-making as “intense and immersive,” with the pianist's evolution as an improviser revealing “deep musical knowledge and devotion.”

Zero Grasses: Ritual for the Losses, the new album by vocalist, composer and multi-instrumentalist Jen Shyu, will be released by Pi Recordings on Friday, April 23.

String Noise, the intrepid violin duo of Conrad Harris and Pauline Kim Harris, celebrates its tenth anniversary in grand style with the simultaneous release of three new recordings on Friday, March 26.
