The world premiere of Karen Zacarias' DESTINY OF DESIRE runs September 11-October 18, 2015 at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater. The company just kicked off rehearsals, and BroadwayWorld has photos from their meet-and-greet below!

BroadwayWorld has just learned that Carlos Gomez, an original cast member of Broadway's IN THE HEIGHTS, has replaced Geoffrey Rivas as 'Ernesto del Rio' in the world premiere of Karen Zacarias' DESTINY OF DESIRE, running September 11-October 18, 2015 at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater.

BroadwayWorld has just learned that The Alliance Theatre's upcoming production of A STEADY RAIN, a contemporary crime drama by writer and producer Keith Huff (Mad Men, American Crime), will be directed by Steppenwolf Theatre co-founder Jeff Perry (who currently plays White House Chief of Staff Cyrus Beene on ABC's SCANDAL).

Chance Theater is excited to present the Southern California Premiere of a bold look at the strength and true nature of enduring love told through an eye of fantasy... The Dragon Play. Written by Jenny Connell Davis and directed by Marya Mazor. The Dragon Play is currently in previews, with regular performances set to begin tomorrow, July 30, and continue through August 23 on the 2nd Stage at Chance Theater at Bette Aitken Theater Arts Center. Karen Zacarias' new telenovela-inspired comedy Destiny of Desire receives its world premiere at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater, kicking off the company's 66th season with dramatic storytelling and comic flair. Zacarias, an inaugural resident playwright of the theater's American Voices New Play Institute whose previous credits include The Book Club Play and Legacy of Light, collaborates with renowned director Jose Luis Valenzuela, Artistic Director of the Latino Theater Company, to bring the Latin-American telenovela genre to life on stage. Destiny of Desire runs September 11-October 18, 2015 in the Kreeger Theater.

Inspired by the true story of University of Washington student Gordon Hirabayashi, Hold These Truths follows Gordon during the U.S. Government's decision to forcibly remove and incarcerate people of Japanese ancestry during World War II.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater and piece by piece productions have announced that Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, America, Kuwait, written and directed by Daniel Talbott, will begin performances Thursday, May 21 at 7pm at The Gym at Judson, 243 Thompson Street. The opening night is set for Tuesday, June 9 at 7pm. The production is scheduled to run through Saturday, June 27.
