2014-15 Silver Palm Award Winners Announced; Ceremony Held This December

The South Florida Silver Palm Theatre Awards committee, founded eight years ago to honor theatrical excellence in South Florida, has announced that this year it will present the coveted award to 27 individuals and organizations.

Closing their 2015 theater season, Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater (WHAT) presents Thrill Me: The Leopold and Loeb Story, with book, music and lyrics by Stephen Doginoff. Thrill Me is a musical theatrical event that recounts the chilling, true story of the legendary duo who committed one of the most infamous and heinous crimes of the twentieth century. Focusing on their obsessive relationship and utilizing Leopold's 1958 parole hearing as a framework, Thrill Me reveals the series of events in 1924 Chicago that led about-to-be law students Leopold and Loeb to be forever remembered as 'the thrill killers.' Thrill Me runs October 24 through November 8 at WHAT.

Every year, since its creation 16 years ago, THE COLUMN Awards in Dallas, TX has donated to BROADWAY CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS. They hold the distinct honor of being the ONLY awards organization in the United States that uses their awards gala as a fundraiser for BC/EFA.

Along with Theatre in the Park, Playmakers Repertory Company, Durham Arts Council and ABC 11, DPAC, Durham Performing Arts Center, is thrilled to present the culmination of this year's Triangle Rising Star program announced from a record number of applicants. The Triangle Rising Star Live Showcase and Awards show will take place at DPAC on Tuesday, May 19 at 7:30 p.m. starring student finalists from high school musical productions in the Triangle region and beyond. Triangle Rising Star is a non-profit education initiative created in 2011 to celebrate high school theater students who participate and excel with wide -ranging talents in their musical productions. Triangle Rising Star is a regional qualifying program for the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (NHSMTA).
