The St. Louis Theatre Circle announced their 2024 Nominations on Friday. STAGES St. Louis’ production of CLUE and New Jewish Theatre’s production of INTO THE WOODS lead all productions with 11 nominations each. Twenty-four different companies and 55 unique productions were represented among 165 nominations in 33 categories. Awards will be handed out on Monday, March 25th, 2024, at The Loretto-Hilton Center for the Performing Arts on the Webster University campus.

St. Louis Actors' Studio's LaBute New Theater Festival pulls together two sets of one-acts and a staged reading of high school finalists this month in order 'to bring a fresh vision of theatre to St. Louis.' Blind, open submissions were taken from playwrights near and far, with six new, previously-unproduced professional plays and four plays by high school students making the cut. With the sort of clarity and theatrical density that only the two-hander can achieve, the season of exclusively two-character plays will journey through our most closely complex relationships : Mentor and Apprentice; Husband and wife; Mothers and Child.

During the first year of his presidency, after violence broke out in Charlottesville, Virginia during a protest involving white supremacists, many of whom were displaying Nazi symbols and slogans, Donald Trump infamously noted that there were 'very fine people' on both sides of the conflict. One could imagine the president regarding the character created by Neil LaBute for his solo one-act 'The Fourth Reich' to be one of those very fine people.

The LaBute New Theater Festival is comprised of three premier one-acts by Tony Award nominated playwright Neil LaBute and will begin performances on January 10, and celebrate its press opening on January 14 and running through January 27.
