Lifeline Theatre's LIONS IN ILLYRIA Begins Today

Lifeline Theatre's KidSeries presents Lions in Illyria, a world premiere based on William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, written by Lifeline Theatre ensemble member Robert Kauzlaric and directed by Lifeline Theatre ensemble member Amanda Delheimer Dimond. Separated from her brother by a storm at sea, the young lioness Violet must brave an unknown country all alone. Disguised as a boy, she joins with a preposterous peacock on a quest to claim the attentions of the most graceful gazelle in town. But soon Violet is torn between multiple masters and her adventure takes a turn for the absurd when she becomes entangled in the clownish antics of a wacky warthog and his featherbrained dodo sidekick. Travel to the weird and wonderful land of Illyria in a magical comedy loaded with music, monkeys, and mayhem. This production is recommended for children ages five and up (children under two not permitted), and runs one hour with no intermission.

Lifeline Theatre to Present ONE CAME HOME in 2015

Lifeline Theatre presents a world premiere adaptation of Amy Timberlake's Edgar Award-winning and Newbery Honor book, One Came Home, by Jessica Wright Buha, directed by Lifeline Theatre ensemble member Elise Kauzlaric (Non-Equity Jeff Award nominee for Mariette in Ecstasy). During the great passenger pigeon migration of 1871, throngs of strangers descend upon Placid, Wisconsin, bringing prosperity in their wake. But as the skies clear, tragedy strikes and Georgie Burkhardt's sister goes missing. When a body is found and the town goes into mourning, Georgie sets out to uncover the truth behind Agatha's disappearance. The journey that follows, both humorous and heartbreaking, will test the limits of her courage and the strength of her character. A powerful coming-of-age tale combines live music with historical events in a world premiere adaption based on the 2013 novel by Chicago author Amy Timberlake. The production runs approximately two hours with one intermission. The book will be on sale in the lobby. One Came Home runs February 13-April 5, 2014 at Lifeline Theatre, 6912 N. Glenwood Ave. (free parking and shuttle; see below). Press opening is Sunday, Feb. 22 at 4 p.m. Opening night is Monday, Feb. 23 at 7:30 p.m. (Previews are Fridays, Feb.13 and 20 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 14 and 21 at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 15 at 4 p.m.)

Strawdog Extends GREAT EXPECTATIONS Through 12/20

Strawdog Theatre Company and Artistic Director Hank Boland have announced the extension of the remount of Charles Dickens' classic Great Expectations, adapted by Gale Childs Daly and directed by Jason W. Gerace, through Saturday, Dec. 20 at Strawdog Theatre, 3829 N. Broadway St. The performance schedule is Thursdays -Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m. with a fully accessible performance at Victory Gardens Wednesday, Dec.10 at 8 p.m. with touch tour at 6:45 p.m. Single Tickets are $28 and on sale now. Lifeline Theatre Extends JANE EYRE Through 11/16

To accommodate ticket demand, Lifeline Theatre announces fifteen added performances of its critically-acclaimed production of Jane Eyre, adapted from Charlotte Bronte's novel by Lifeline Theatre ensemble member Christina Calvit (four-time Jeff Award winner), and directed by Lifeline Theatre Artistic Director Dorothy Milne (Jeff Award and After Dark Award winner). After a troubled childhood, Jane Eyre searches for new purpose as a governess at Thornfield Hall. But a fragile peace gives way to turbulent passion when she meets Mr. Rochester, a man concealing a dark secret. Their unconventional relationship leads to a terrible revelation, and Jane must forge a new future amid the ashes of her ravaged dreams. ETD to Present TELL ME WHAT YOU REMEMBER, Opening 12/1

Erasing the Distance (ETD), a Chicago-based arts organization that sheds light on mental health issues through theatre, will present the world premiere of Tell Me What You Remember, a devised play about depression in families that opens Dec. 1, 2014. Tell me What You Remember is adapted by Gedalya Chinn, directed by Nikki Zaleski, and co-produced by Rebecca's Dream.

Cold Basement Dramatics Opens Fifth Season with World Premiere of POINT AND SHOOT

Point and Shoot is a devised play based on the true story of Diana Hopper, a girl born to a family of lost souls in the California desert, and her friendship with John Locke, a lonely gay man and artist with a mysterious past of his own. John plays a leading part in Diana's life as she grows into adulthood. When tragedy strikes twice, Diana's plans for her life are demolished and John's mortality is laid bare.
