Monterey Jazz Festival is proud to announce the results of the annual Next Generation Jazz Festival. A full list of top groups, scholarship and award winners can be found on the Festival's Web site at montereyjazzfestival.org.

The 47th Annual Next Generation Jazz Festival Presented by Monterey Jazz Festival takes place March 31- April 2, 2017 in downtown Monterey. The weekend-long event includes big bands, combos, vocal ensembles, and individual musicians vying for a spot on the stages of the 60th Annual Monterey Jazz Festival. Sponsored by the City of Monterey and the California Jazz Conservatory, all competition events are open to the public, free of charge.

The Millersville Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band will present the 2nd Annual 'Trick or Treat with a Beat!' at the Winter Center tonight, October 30, 7:30 p.m., for a night of betwithing blues, supernatural swing, and Halloween-howling jazz! Costume attire is encouraged and there will be prizes for the best costumes! The Winter Center is located at 60 W. Cottage Avenue, Millersville.

Earlier this week, Carnegie Hall presented Standard Time with Michael Feinstein 'The Bad and the Beautiful'- Celebrating David Raksin and Classic Film Songs. Michael Feinstein, backed by a 12-piece band conducted by Charles Prince, sang classic songs by some of Hollywood's greatest composers. Feinstein performed music by David Raskin, the composer of the themes for The Bad and the Beautiful, Laura, and other memorable films, as well as favorites by other great masters of music for the silver screen. In-demand Jazz trombone soloist Harry Watters and the 28-piece Salt River Brass will be joined on stage by Pat Sheridan and Sam Pilafian on tuba, Mike Kocour on piano, Dan Bukvich on percussion, when they perform songs from the Great American Songbook in Mesa Arts Center's Ikeda Theater today, June 14, at 7:30 p.m. June 9 through 13, Mesa Arts Center's Ikeda Theater will become a recording and video studio, as Arizona-based multimedia recording company Tresona films practice sessions and the resulting concert for theatrical release. Tickets are available now at mesaartscenter.com or at 480-644-6500.
