In February and March, The Kennedy Center in Washington will present a varied array of Danish theater and dance through four very different performances for both grown-ups and children, performed by "TEATRET" ("The Theater"), Teatret Gruppe 38 ("Theater Group 38") and the Danish Dance Theater. Audience can enjoyAugust, the award-winning word-less comedy, a funny mash-up of the fantastic creatures of the classic fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen, or the crazy adaptation of the classic story of Little Red Riding Hood. The Danish Dance Theater will perform their US premiere of Love Songs, a contemporary take on the cinema noir universe.
The Newseum will mark the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy with a new exhibit opening April 12, 2013, featuring several key assassination artifacts that have never been publicly displayed. Some of the items on display in "Three Shots Were Fired" were with Lee Harvey Oswald at the time of his arrest on Nov. 22, 1963. The exhibit also will feature the Bell & Howell 8 mm movie camera used by Abraham Zapruder, the only eyewitness to capture the entire assassination on film. The Oswald and Zapruder artifacts are on loan to the Newseum from the National Archives.

To celebrate the beginning of Black History Month, today the Newseum opens 'Jailed in Birmingham,' a new exhibit featuring a casting of the original jail cell door behind which the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was confined after his April 1963 arrest for leading nonviolent protests in Birmingham, Ala. It was in this cell that the civil rights leader penned his historic letter defending civil disobedience. The 'Letter From Birmingham Jail,' written in response to a statement by a group of eight white Alabama clergymen, includes the now-famous quote, 'Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.'
