The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents August by Denmark's "TEATRET" theater company.Directed by Larz Knutzon and winner of the 2007 Best Show Reumert Award (Denmark's foremost recognition in the performing arts). August will run February 23 at 7:30 p.m. and February 24 at 2:00 p.m. as part of Nordic Cool 2013. August is a wordless comedy about the basic human condition. Press opening night is February 23, 2013 at 7:30 p.m.

The story begins simply: four individuals go for a stroll in a dark and empty space. Vulnerable to their surroundings, they stumble upon tiny fragments of life we all struggle with-wonder and anxiety, enthusiasm and anger, fear and expectation, victory and defeat. The quartet comes to realize a force bigger than themselves-a state of being between childlike innocence and adult awareness, animal instinct and human rationality.

Hans Roenne and Gitte Baastrup founded "TEATRET" in1984 with the ambitious purpose: "To create theater with existential content, while searching for a spacious common theatrical language. A universal form of communication where you can meet, regardless of age, intellect and nationality..." Recipient of numerous awards and honor over the years, "TEATRET" Theater Productions have been seen countless times around Denmark and have represented Danish theater in many countries around the world.
