Premiere Summer Musical Theatre Program Welcomes Younger Students

The Regional Emmy-Award Winning musical theatre training organization, Young Artists of America (YAA), is now welcoming 4th and 5th grade students into their Summer Performing Arts Intensives. Previously, the program, known to many as the premiere training ground for dedicated musical theatre students in the Mid-Atlantic, was only open to students in middle school and high school. Starting in June of 2020, elementary school students (ages 9+) will be welcomed into the new daytime program, Kids Academy, an introduction to musical theatre led by the region's top teaching artists.

Perspectives Ensemble to Present DARK EYES/NEW EYES: A CELEBRATION OF ARMENIAN MUSIC

Perspectives Ensemble, in cooperation with the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, presents Dark Eyes/New Eyes: A Celebration of Armenian Music on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 7pm at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Chapel of St. James, 1047 Amsterdam Avenue at 112th Street. The performance will feature Zulal, a vocal trio composed of Teni Apelian, Anaïs Alexandra Tekerian, and Yeraz Markarian, and Perspectives Ensemble members, including flutist and Artistic Director Sato Moughalian, harpist Stacey Shames, and percussionist John Hadfield. Admission is free and running time is 70 minutes, no intermission.

Victoria Murray Baatin Appointed Director Of Social Impact at the Kennedy Center

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announces that Victoria Murray Baatin, a respected administrator and stage director, will serve as the Center's first Director of Social Impact, effective March 2, 2020. Baatin will work across the Center, and side by side with Artistic Director and Vice President of Social Impact Marc Bamuthi Joseph, to develop and implement strategies and projects that positively influence creative communities locally and nationally.

TV: TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD Prepares to Make History at Madison Square Garden

The Broadway production of To Kill a Mockingbird, Aaron Sorkin's new play, directed by Bartlett Sher, and based on Harper Lee's classic novel, will become the first-ever Broadway play to perform at The World's Most Famous Arena, New York's Madison Square Garden, in front of approximately 18,000 New York City public school students.

HBO Max Signs Exclusive Multi-Year Deal with Children's Author Mo Willems and Stampede Ventures

Following a highly competitive negotiation, HBO Max has announced an exclusive, multi-year deal with beloved children's author Mo Willems, an Emmy®-Award winning writer, New York Times best-selling author, and illustrator, establishing Willems as HBO Max's very first artist in residence. As part of this two-year deal, HBO Max has acquired streaming rights to Willems' first live-action special Don't Let the Pigeon Do Storytime! from Greg Silverman's media company Stampede Ventures who will produce all additional content under this deal. HBO Max has committed to additional live-action Storytime specials, as well as multiple animated specials based on Willems' wildly popular children's books. The first animated special will be based on New York Times Best Seller, Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed.

Producers Scott Rudin and Barry Diller announced today that Academy Award nominee and two-time Emmy Award winner Greg Kinnear will make his Broadway debut in the iconic role of 'Atticus Finch' in the Broadway production of To Kill a Mockingbird, Aaron Sorkin's new play, directed by Bartlett Sher, and based on Harper Lee's classic novel, beginning Tuesday, April 21. Two-time Golden Globe® winner Ed Harris' final performance will be on Sunday, April 19.

Grammya"?-winning new-music choir The Crossing, led by Donald Nally, gives the world premiere performances of Michael Gordon's Travel Guide to Nicaragua with cellist Maya Beiser in presentations by co-commissioners, the Annenberg Center on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 7:00pm in Philadelphia and Carnegie Hall on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at 7:30pm in New York City. Before the Carnegie Hall performance on March 25, Donald Nally and Michael Gordon will have a 6:30pm pre-concert conversation with John Schaefer, host of WNYC's New Sounds and Soundcheck.

Cassie Beck Will Lead WHAT THE CONSTITUTION MEANS TO ME on Tour; New Stops Announced!

Broadway actress Cassie Beck (The Rose Tattoo, The Humans) will star in the next segment of the national tour of Heidi Schreck's Tony Award nominated play and Pulitzer Prize finalist What the Constitution Means to Me, directed by Oliver Butler. Beck will begin performances in Charlotte, NC in June 2020, followed by performances in Boston at Huntington Avenue Theatre, Nashville at TPAC and La Jolla, CA at La Jolla Playhouse.

PAWS/LA Will Present a One Night Only Benefit Event BARRETT FOA HAS FRIENDS!

PAWS/LA, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit agency serving people and pets in need, will present a one night only benefit event - Barrett Foa Has Friends! - on Monday, February 24, at 8pm. This very special evening of cabaret at Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood will feature performances by Foa and some of his most talented friends, including Broadway favorites Alex Ellis, Carly Hughes, Chris Mann, and Adam Pascal. Also, music group The Levenbirds have been set to make a special appearance. Renée Fleming Donates Archives To Juilliard

American soprano Renée Fleming, one of the most beloved and celebrated singers of our time, is donating her personal archives to Juilliard, her alma mater. The announcement was made by Juilliard President Damian Woetzel at the beginning of Fleming's Vocal Arts master class, held on February 19 in Juilliard's Paul Hall. The master class featured singers from Juilliard's Marcus Institute for Vocal Arts and was part of her February residency at the school.
