Beck Center for the Arts presents Monty Python's Spamalot on the Mackey Main Stage, July 12 through August 18, 2013. Winner of three Tony Awards including Best Musical, Monty Python's Spamalot is the outrageous musical comedy "lovingly ripped off" from the cult classic motion picture Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Show times are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are now on sale.
Entr'Acte Theatrix will present Monty Python's Spamalot from tonight, June 20th through the 30th at the Crest Theatre at the Delray Center for the Arts. The play is 'lovingly ripped off' from the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, with a book by Python Eric Idle, and a score by Idle and John Du Prez. Like the film, it's a totally irreverent and typically Pythonesque parody of the Arthurian Legend.
Torrential rains beforehand, a late start, and even technical issues couldn't dampen the enthusiasm of the cast SPAMALOT, which is currently playing The Muny. I brought my young son along to the show since he'd enjoyed the movie, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, that it's based on, and I'm happy to report that he laughed at the silliness on display repeatedly. I myself have issues with this hodgepodge of scenes cobbled from the cult film, and in fact, it is the additional elements that book writer and Python member Eric Idle included, along with a couple of fresh songs he's written with frequent collaborator John Du Prez, that really stand out to me in this parody/homage. One thing's for sure, a game cast led by John O'Hurley delivered a hilarious presentation under less than ideal conditions this past Monday at the Muny.
The Muny presents John O'Hurley in the first show of its fantastic 95th Season, Monty Python's Spamalot, directed and choreographed by Denis Jones. The show opened last night, June 17, and you can check out photos from the show and after party below!
A fitting follow up to the silliness that is The Producers, the historic Woodlawn Theatre will stage the silliness that is Monty Python's Spamalot beginning in August on the main stage. Join the Woodlawn as it heads out on a quest (God be praised, we have a quest!) for the Holy Grail. (God, the almighty and all-knowing, has misplaced a cup?) Tickets go on sale July 2.

Monty Python's 'Spamalot' musical is headed into a tree. No, not a tree--A theatre! The Media Theatre, actually. Yes, all of the creative minds at Delaware County's only professional music theatre are plotting and planning right now to bring you perhaps the funniest Broadway musical of all time. 'Spamalot' is just what it sounds like--a conglomeration of a parody of 'Camelot' (King Arthur's tale) and a live musical based on 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail', the classic cinematic comic masterpiece.

Having grown up on Monty Python reruns and films, it doesn't take a lot to get me excited about seeing a production of Monty Python's SPAMALOT. The hilarious hit musical is making a gloriously triumphant return to Houston in its first locally produced performance at Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS). The First National Tour enjoyed a four week run in the summer of 2007 that was co-produced by Broadway Across America - Houston and TUTS, and because of popular demand TUTS decided to produce the show again.
