Cast announced for CUTTING THE TIGHTROPE: THE DIVORCE OF POLITICS FROM ART.

The Hope Theatre is set to close in its current form. The board of the theatre, located in Islington, have resigned their roles after being unable to reach an agreement with the pub in which the theatre is located.

The first casting announcement has been revealed for the anticipated Australian production of 2:22 - A Ghost Story, with one of Australia's most highly regarded leading actors, Daniel MacPherson, confirmed to play the role of 'Ben'.

Sugar Coat is a piece of gig theatre, telling a story of growing up, trauma, and sex through pop punk music. A kind of rock concert meets musical, it’s performed by an all female and non-binary band, playing and singing live for the duration of the show. From the very beginning, this doesn’t feel like a traditional theatre experience: the audience are whooping and clapping along, and it’s clear that everyone both onstage and off is having a great time. 

ReMythed zhuzhes up a series of fables, giving it a queer spin, to put what many consider “modern concepts” in perspective and combating LGBTQ+ erasure. They rejig handed-down tales from all over the world, questioning identities, challenging heteronormativity as well as “traditional values”. The company are a delight. 

After an acclaimed run at VAULT Festival in 2020, the feminist pop-punk hit Sugar Coat comes to Southwark Playhouse this spring. A live music play about love, loss and lubrication, this powerful gig theatre show confronts sex and sexuality in a brutally funny true story about trauma and recovery.

The follow-up show, Who Murdered My Cat? debuts at the same theatre on 24th/25th September 2021.

Award-winning writer and performer Roann McCloskey dons her dungarees once again to bring us Who Murdered My Cat? - a brand new meander through the mind of a woman bound for self-discovery with a promise to leave no (wo)man behind.

Anonymous Is A Woman strikes again with a disquieting site-specific show about consent and its withdrawal. Inspired by the Aziz Ansari scandal where a woman referred to as 'Grace' accused the comedian of pressuring her into sex while he stood by the opinion that it was merely a bad date, Greyscale is an exploration of blurred lines and personal stance.

For VAULT Festival 2019, Fine Mess Theatre present a thoroughly modern play about death. Exploring language, expectations, grief, and the celebration (or lack thereof) of life, A Wake in Progress uniquely combines scripted scenes and audience interaction to offer a humorous yet moving tale of love, death and funerals.  Interrogating how we really feel about the subject of death, the final scene will differ each night based on the input of the audience during the performance.

How do people miss the signals of someone withdrawing consent? Inspired by the Aziz Ansari scandal, Madeline Gould and Joel Samuels have both written monologues for characters on a date without conferring. A novel way of creating theatre, this process will emulate the discrepancies in memory when two people recount the same experience.

Sonia Friedman Productions and the Almeida Theatre today announce full casting for the West End transfer of Ink, written by James Graham (This House), which will play a limited season at the Duke of York's Theatre from 9 September, following a sold-out run at the Almeida Theatre.
