Theater Latté Da today announced casting for Violet, the rarely-produced musical which it will present in the Dowling Studio at the Guthrie, February 26 - March 21, 2010. Under the direction of Theater Latté Da artistic director Peter Rothstein, the production features a score by Tony Award nominee Jeanine Tesori, the composer whose music brought Tony Kushner's book and lyrics for Caroline, or Change to life. Britta Ollmann - a childhood star of the Children's Theatre Company who originated title roles in Pippi Longstocking, Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse and Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz - will play the title role. Ollman recently returned to the Twin Cities after completing her studies at New York University and appearing in the Broadway premiere of A Catered Affair.

The Guthrie Theater and The Acting Company (TAC) today announced complete casting for their 2010 co-production and national tour of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Building on the success of their critically acclaimed 2009 production of Henry V, these two nationally recognized theater institutions will again showcase the talents of young performers from their ranks, including graduates of the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater B.F.A. Black Box Theatre presents a one-of-a-kind Halloween experience with the World Premiere of THE CREATURE by Trevor Allen. The Guthrie will present Northern Lights/Southern Cross: Tales from the Other Side of the World, an international collaboration between Interact Theater and Australia's Tutti Ensemble, companies both comprised largely of artists with disabilities. An epic tale spanning cultures and hemispheres, acclaimed actor/playwright/storyteller Kevin Kling shares his story of personal growth and rebirth, in the production directed by Interact artistic director Jeanne Calvit, with original music by Tutti Ensemble's Pat Rix. Northern Lights/Southern Cross: Tales from the Other Side of the World will run October 22 - November 8 in the Dowling Studio.
