Dachis, Maloney, McCallum Set For Guthrie's CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION

The Guthrie Theater today announced additional casting and the full creative team for the upcoming regional premiere of Annie Baker's Circle Mirror Transformation, directed by Benjamin McGovern. University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater B.F.A. Actor Training Program graduate Ali Rose Dachis, in her Guthrie debut, will play Lauren, alongside the four previously announced Guthrie veterans- Chris Carlson (James), Tracey Maloney (Theresa), Bill McCallum (Schultz) and Angela Timberman (Marty).

Scottsboro Boys to Play Eight-Week Run at the Guthrie Theater

he Guthrie Theater announced today that it will present a limited eight-week run of The Scottsboro Boys, the stirring new musical by John Kander and Fred Ebb, the Tony Award-winning creators of Cabaret and Chicago. The Scottsboro Boys received its world premiere Off-Broadway at The Vineyard Theatre (Douglas Aibel, Artistic Director; Jennifer Garvey-Blackwell, Executive Director), where it just completed a critically acclaimed sold out run.

Registration Now Underway for ATC's Summer on Stage Program

Forty high-school students will learn acting skills from theatre professionals and perform on Arizona Theatre Company's professional stage for Summer on Stage 2010. Produced by Arizona Theatre Company and the University of Arizona School of Theatre Arts, Summer on Stage is a five-week training program for actors.

Guthrie Adds CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION To Their Season, Runs 5/20-6/13

Director Joe Dowling today announced that the Guthrie Theater has secured the rights for one of this season's most talked-about plays. Circle Mirror Transformation by Annie Baker just ended its sold-out run at Playwrights Horizons in New York and the Guthrie will mount a production in the Dowling Studio from May 20 through June 13 (opening May 22), under the direction of Benjamin McGovern.

Director Joe Dowling today announced the Guthrie Theater's 2010-2011 season will begin with the world premiere of a new play by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Marsha Norman. The Master Butchers Singing Club, adapted from the novel by Minnesota author Louise Erdrich, opens on the Wurtele Thrust Stage of the Guthrie Theater in September under the direction of Francesca Zambello.

The Guthrie Theater today announced that Sarah Agnew (currently appearing as Beatrice in Yale Rep's production of The Servant of Two Masters) will lead the cast of Rebecca Gilman's Dollhouse, playing Nora in a modern-day critique of middle-class life in an adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's groundbreaking and controversial masterpiece A Doll's House (previously seen at the Guthrie in 1996).

The Guthrie Theater today announced complete casting for its upcoming production of David Henry Hwang's M. Butterfly, the 1988 Tony and Drama Desk award-winning play about a French diplomat who falls in love with a Chinese actress who turns out to be not only a spy but a man.

The Public Theater & Signature Theatre to Premiere Tony Kushner's INTELLIGENT HOMOSEXUAL'S GUIDE in '11

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) and Signature Theatre Company (Founding Artistic Director James Houghton; Executive Director Erika Mallin) announced today that the New York premiere of Tony Kushner's THE INTELLIGENT HOMOSEXUAL'S GUIDE TO CAPITALISM AND SOCIALISM WITH A KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES will be presented in the 2010-2011 season in a co-production between The Public Theater and Signature Theatre Company, in association with the Guthrie Theater. Michael Greif, who directed the world premiere at the Guthrie in April, 2009, will direct the New York premiere, which will play March 22-June 12, 2011 at The Public Theater. Casting will be announced at a later date.

Chicago Shakespeare Theatre's PRIVATE LIVES Closes 3/7

The Chicago Shakespeare Theatre will present a new staging of Noel Coward's PRIVATE LIVES. The play, set in a hotel balcony, will presented in the round in the new staging, by acclaimed Chicago director Gary Griffin. Performances for the production will begin January 6th. The company has added new seating to its Courtyard Theatre in order to accommodate Griffin's idea, adding seats around the proscenium.

Guthrie Launches Online Shakespeare Resource

In celebration of MACBETH, the Guthrie Theater's 50th production of a Shakespeare play, the Theater today launched a new section of its website devoted entirely to Shakespeare at the Guthrie. The site, www.guthrietheater.org/shakespeare, contains cast lists, photos, video, play guides and more, and is designed to serve as a resource for theatergoers, artists, scholars and educators.
