AN ILIAD to Return to The Guthrie Theater, Begin. 10/1

The Guthrie Theater today announced a return engagement for An Iliad, the single-actor storytelling adaptation of Homer's Greek classic about the siege of Troy. The play features Stephen Yoakam (more than 75 Guthrie productions including a lauded turn as Bertolt Brecht in 2012's Tales from Hollywood and as Creon in 2011's The Burial at Thebes) as The Poet and is directed by Benjamin McGovern (The Edge of Our Bodies, Circle Mirror Transformation). An Iliad is written by Lisa Peterson (director of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at the Guthrie in 2012, as well as this summer's acclaimed production of Clybourne Park) and Denis O'Hare from a translation of Homer by Robert Fagles.

Andrew Weems to Lead UNCLE VANYA at Guthrie Theatre

The Guthrie Theater today announced complete casting for its production of Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya. Guthrie Artistic DirectorJoe Dowling will helm Brian Friel's modern adaptation of the Chekhov classic. First produced at the Gate Theatre, Dublin, in 1998, Friel's adaptation renders the language of the play into a modern idiom and offers humor and further developed characters' roles and relationships. Uncle Vanya-a play that has not been performed on the Guthrie stage in nearly 25 years-begins performances on September 14 on the Wurtele Thrust Stage.

The Guthrie Presents Additional Performances of CLYBOURNE PARK, 7/28 & 8/4

The Guthrie Theater previously announced additional performances for its production of the 2011 Pulitzer Prize and 2012 Tony Award winner Clybourne Park-a powerhouse contemporary satire about race and gentrification during the past half century in America written by Bruce Norris. The additional performances are today, July 28 at 1:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 4 at 1:00 p.m.

The Guthrie Theater today announced additional performances for its production of the 2011 Pulitzer Prize and 2012 Tony Award winner Clybourne Park-a powerhouse contemporary satire about race and gentrification during the past half century in America written by Bruce Norris. The additional performances are Sunday, July 28 at 1:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 4 at 1:00 p.m. Penned in response to Lorraine Hansberry's classic A Raisin in the Sun, Clybourne Park has sparked conversation and dialogue across America wherever it has played. Lisa Peterson(Guthrie: Major Barbara, Oedipus) directs this biting American story at the Guthrie after last year's lauded production of Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

MAD MEN's Vincent Kartheiser Leads Guthrie's PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, Now thru 8/31

The Guthrie Theater welcomes Vincent Kartheiser, known to worldwide audiences as advertising executive Pete Campbell in the ongoing Golden Globe, Emmy and SAG Award-winning series 'Mad Men', in the iconic role of Mr. Darcy in the theater's production of Pride and Prejudice, based on the novel by Jane Austen, adapted for the stage by Simon Reade and directed by Joe Dowling. The final show of the Guthrie's 50th anniversary season, Pride and Prejudice will begin previews tonight, July 6, with an opening night of July 12, and will run through August 31.

On Saturday night, BEHOLD: A Gala Performance, honoring 50 years of the Guthrie, took place on the theater's Wurtele Thrust Stage before a packed house. The performance featured a glittering array of contributors including actors and artists linked to all aspects of the Guthrie's past and its vision for the future. BEHOLD, the centerpiece of a weekend that captivated the Twin Cities and marked the long and vital relationship between the Guthrie and the community that it calls home, marked the half-century milestone for the flagship of the American regional theater movement that first opened its doors in 1963.

The Guthrie Theater today announced that Ashley Rose Montondo has joined the cast of its summer production of Pride and Prejudice. She assumes the featured role of Elizabeth Bennet after the sudden departure of Erin Krakow. Montondo steps into her first major role on the national stage, opposite leading man Vincent Kartheiser (television's 'Mad Men') in the role of Mister Darcy. Guthrie Theater Appoints Danielle St. Germain-Gordon as New Director of Development

Guthrie Theater director Joe Dowling today announced the appointment of Danielle St. Germain-Gordon as the theater's Director of Development. St. Germain-Gordon comes to the Guthrie from Arena Stage in Washington, DC, where she served as Chief Development Officer since 2011. Prior to that, she spent three years with American Alliance of Museums (AAM) in Washington, DC, most recently as Vice President for Institutional Advancement.

The Guthrie Theater today announced complete casting for its summertime romance Pride and Prejudice adapted for the stage by Simon Reade based on the novel by Jane Austen in the 200th anniversary of its publication. The Guthrie Theater today announced three additional performances added to the lauded run of An Iliad, the single-actor storytelling adaptation of Homer's Greek classic about the siege of Troy, featuring Stephen Yoakam as The Poet and directed by Benjamin McGovern (The Edge of Our Bodies, Circle Mirror Transformation). An Iliad is written by Lisa Peterson (director of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at the Guthrie in 2012, as well as the upcoming production of Clybourne Park opening in June) and Denis O'Hare from a translation of Homer by Robert Fagles. An Iliad, originally slated to run through May 26, will now run through June 1 with 7:30 performances added Thursday through Saturday, May 30 through June 1, in the Guthrie's Dowling Studio.
