Helen Anker and Jeff McCarthy Lead Guthrie's MY FAIR LADY, Opening Tonight

The Guthrie Theater presents My Fair Lady, the hummable, quotable, utterly enjoyable musical for the whole family. Playing for the first time at the Guthrie, under the direction of Joe Dowling, My Fair Lady will feature Helen Anker as Eliza Doolittle, Tony Sheldon as Colonel Pickering, Donald Corren as Alfred P. Doolittle - all in their Guthrie debuts - and Jeff McCarthy as Professor Henry Higgins. Performances began on the Wurtele Thrust Stage on Saturday, June 28, with an opening slated for tonight, July 4, 2014.

Dark & Stormy Opens THE DRUNKEN CITY Tonight

Dark & Stormy Productions presents the regional premiere of the Outer Critics Award-nominated play The Drunken City by Adam Bock. Previously, Dark & Stormy presented Outside Providence by Edward Allan Baker, Speed-the-Plow by David Mamet, and The Receptionist by Adam Bock.

Playing for the first time at the Guthrie, under the direction of Joe Dowling, My Fair Lady will feature Helen Anker as Eliza Doolittle, Tony Sheldon as Colonel Pickering, Donald Corren as Alfred P. Doolittle - all in their Guthrie debuts - and Jeff McCarthy as Professor Henry Higgins. Performances begin on the Wurtele Thrust Stage on Saturday, June 28. John Skelley Stars in HAMLET and ROSENCRANTZ AND GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD at the Guthrie, Beg. Tonight

The Guthrie Theater and The Acting Company (TAC) reunite for a sixth year, presenting Hamlet, Shakespeare's story of a Danish prince's search for vengeance, justice and truth, in repertory with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, a reworking of the same tragedy from the point of view of two minor characters and their static existence in a world beyond their comprehension. This two-week engagement today, April 22 - May 4, on the McGuire Proscenium Stage, will conclude a successful seven-month 42-city tour, during which time these productions played to thousands of adults and students in large and small markets around the United States. Both Hamlet and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead will showcase the talents of graduates of the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater B.F.A. Actor Training Program, as well as alumni of A Guthrie Experience for Actors in Training.

Guthrie Director Joe Dowling today announced ten mainstage productions in his final season at the helm of the world renowned theater, culminating 20 years of remarkable leadership. The 2014-2015 lineup includes first-time Guthrie productions of plays by A.R. Gurney, Anne Washburn and Sarah Ruhl, three productions directed by Dowling, including a beloved Shakespeare comedy and iconic masterpieces by Arthur Miller and Sean O'Casey, the Guthrie debut of visionary writer and director Mary Zimmerman, as well as an all-American musical slated for summer.

Park Square Theatre and Guthrie Swap Plays for 2014-15 Season

What's that saying about the 'best laid plans o' mice and men?' Last month Park Square Theatre announced its ambitious line-up of 19 projects for its first season with two stages, including the area premiere of Mr. Burns, a post-electric play, by Anne Washburn. The Saint Paul theatre had secured a contract for the rights to produce the play from Samuel French to open the inaugural season of Park Square's Andy Boss stage. Unfortunately, another agent at the publisher had already been in negotiations with the Guthrie, San Francisco's ACT and the playwright herself about a cross-country collaboration.

James T. Alfred and Erika LaVonn Star in Penumbra's THE MOUNTAINTOP at the Guthrie, Beg. Tonight

On the heels of successful presentations of A Raisin in the Sun, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and The Amen Corner, the Guthrie Theater welcomes the return of the acclaimed Penumbra Theatre Company with The Mountaintop - the recipient of the 2010 Olivier Award for Best New Play - written by Katori Hall and directed by Penumbra Founder and Co-Artistic Director Lou Bellamy. The Mountaintop begins performances tonight, March 28 and continues through April 19.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company, recipient of the 2012 Regional Theatre Tony Award, presents Shakespeare's Henry IV, Parts 1 and 2 as part of the Clarice Smith Repertory. STC Artistic Director Michael Kahn will direct both parts of this sweeping epic - one of Shakespeare's culminating achievements in the history play genre - over multiple nights. As Kahn says, describing Parts 1 and 2 as his favorite Shakespearean drama: 'It brings to the stage every issue we as human beings experience.' The two productions will run in the Company's Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) from today, March 25 - June 8, 2014.

Memorial for Christopher Evan Welch Set for 2/17 at Pershing Square Signature Center

A memorial to celebrate the life and career of actor Christopher Evan Welch will take place on Monday, February 17 on the Irene Diamond Stage of The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 W. 42nd Street). The event is open to the public and will begin at 3:00 with doors opening at 2:30PM. Mr. Welch died Monday, December 2 in Santa Monica, California from complications related to cancer. He was 48.
