The Guthrie Theater today announced complete casting for its summertime romance Pride and Prejudice adapted for the stage by Simon Reade based on the novel by Jane Austen in the 200th anniversary of its publication. The production will be directed by Joe Dowling and will feature Erin Krakow (Guthrie: The Importance of Being Earnest; Off-Broadway: The Shanghai Gesture, Prometheus Bound; Television: "Army Wives") as Miss Elizabeth Bennet along with previously announced Vincent Kartheiser (Guthrie: A Christmas Carol, Henry V, Henry IV; Regional theater: Death of the Novel; Film: Untamed Heart, In Time; Television: "Mad Men") as Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy.

Jane Austen's witty comedy of manners-one of the most beloved novels of all time-tells the story of the five Bennet daughters who are in need of suitable husbands. The arrival of the wealthy Mr. Bingley and his best friend Mr. Darcy stirs romantic thoughts among the sisters and the matrimonial matchmaking begins. Tensions mount between the young, spitfire Elizabeth Bennet and the arrogant Mr. Darcy, though he cannot escape a growing attraction to her rebellious behavior. A tangle of mistaken impressions and unexpected revelations keeps Austen's famous young couple apart until a major social error ironically allows Darcy to swallow his pride and Elizabeth to rethink her prejudice.

"Jane Austen lived a quiet life in rural England," says Dowling, "and in her own way she was kind of the English-language Chekhov--dealing with apparently small lives and turning them into universal experiences."

Pride and Prejudice also features Ivy Beech (Macbeth, Shakespeare's Globe; University of Minnesota/Guthrie BFA Actor Training Program) as Miss Kitty Bennet/Miss Annabel de Bourgh, J.C. Cutler (Guthrie: A Christmas Carol, The Birds) as Sir William Lucas/Mr. Reynolds, Laura Esping (Guthrie: Tales from Hollywood, Much Ado About Nothing) as Miss Charlotte Lucas, Hugh Kennedy (Guthrie:The Primrose Path, A Christmas Carol) as Mr. Charles Bingley, Aeysha Kinnunen (The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Minnesota Centennial Showboat; University of Minnesota/Guthrie BFA Actor Training Program) as Miss Lydia Bennet, Juan Rivera Lebron(Guthrie: The Winter's Tale, Merrily We Roll Along) as Mr. George Wickham, Kris L. Nelson (Guthrie: Tales from Hollywood, Arsenic and Old Lace) as Mr. William Collins, Thallis Santesteban (Guthrie: Charley's Aunt; University of Minnesota/Guthrie BFA Actor Training Program) as Miss Mary Bennet/Miss Georgiana Darcy, AnNa Sundberg (Guthrie: Tales from Hollywood) as Miss Caroline Bingley, Peter Thomson (Guthrie: Roman Holiday, Charley's Aunt) as Mr. Bennet, Suzanne Warmanen (Guthrie: A Christmas Carol, The Winter's Tale) as Mrs. Bennet, Christine Weber (Guthrie: A Christmas Carol, The Winter's Tale) as Miss Jane Bennet and Sally Wingert(Broadway/West End, London: La Bête; Guthrie: The Primrose Path, Other Desert Cities) as Lady Catherine de Bourgh/Mrs. Gardiner.

Edwards (Sound Designer), Carla Steen (Dramaturg), Lucinda Holshue(Voice and Dialect Coach), Joe Chvala (Movement), Jason Clusman (Stage Manager), Meaghan Rosenberger(Assistant Stage Manager) and Adrian Balbontin (Assistant Director).
