For the fourth consecutive year, Murad, Inc. announced the company's observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month through a continued partnership with City of Hope, one of the nation's leading research, treatment and education centers for cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Point and Shoot is a devised play based on the true story of Diana Hopper, a girl born to a family of lost souls in the California desert, and her friendship with John Locke, a lonely gay man and artist with a mysterious past of his own. John plays a leading part in Diana's life as she grows into adulthood. When tragedy strikes twice, Diana's plans for her life are demolished and John's mortality is laid bare.
Westport Country Playhouse's autumn Script in Hand playreadings will kick off with the humorous and stirring historically based drama, 'Trying' by Joanna McClelland Glass, on Monday, November 10, at 7 p.m., followed by Agatha Christie's classic hodunit, 'The Mousetrap' on Monday, December 15, at 7 p.m. Director of both one-night-only Script in Hand playreadings is Anne Keefe, Playhouse associate artist and curator of the playreading series. Casting for both readings will be announced soon. Tickets to each Script in Hand playreading are $15.
Rodgers and Hammerstein's award-winning South Pacific is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book Tales of the South Pacific by James A. Michener. The musical is set on an island paradise during World War II and tells two parallel love stories against the dangers of prejudice and war and the importance of valuing diversity. Its portrayal of Americans stationed in an alien culture in wartime is as relevant today as when it first thrilled audiences in 1949. The CSULB Theatre Arts Department's University Players open the 2014-2015 season with Merrily We Roll Along, with book by George Furth and music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, running today, October 3rd through 12th in the Studio Theatre. Based on Kaufman and Hart's eponymous play, Merrily We Roll Along tells the story, in reverse chronological order, of the life of successful Hollywood mogul Franklin Shepard.
Rehearsals begin today, Thursday, October 2 in New York City for The River, a new play by Jez Butterworth, starring Hugh Jackman, Laura Donnelly and Cush Jumbo and directed by Ian Rickson. The River begins preview performances in four weeks on Friday, October 31 and will open on Sunday, November 16 at the Circle in the Square Theatre (50th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue). The production will play a strictly limited 13-week engagement through Sunday, January 25, 2015.

This longest-running New York musical opened in 1960 at The Sullivan Street Theater in New York City.
