It was announced today that Elena Shaddow will join the Lincoln Center Theater production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's THE KING AND I as Anna Leonowens, beginning March 20 in Tempe, AZ.
Featuring outstanding performances from a cast led by Laura Michelle Kelly and Jose Llana, the beautiful and exquisite national tour production of Lincoln Center Theater's Tony Award-winning revival of the 1951 Rodgers and Hammerstein classic THE KING AND I leaves audiences utterly spellbound by its sweeping opulence and gorgeous, reverent staging-which notably combines the elegance and grace of the classic musical many of us have known and loved for decades with a knowing sensitivity to modern times that we exist in today. The national tour production continues its two-week run of performances at Orange County's Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa that continues through March 11, 2018.
At 67, this King is timely and timeless in a lush tour based on the Tony-winning Lincoln Center Theater revival directed by Bartlett Sher. As on Broadway, Lady Thiang steals the show.

It takes a bit of push to get me to attend more classical works of musical theatre. I didn't grow up with the movies, so the nostalgia is a little lost on me. That being said, I was excited to see the tour of the Lincoln Center's recent production of The King and I, which nabbed a Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical.

A touring company of Rodgers and Hammerstein's THE KING AND I is currently playing the Fox Theatre, and it's a very engaging revival of the classic musical. It's an elegant and entertaining show that won a Tony for best revival in 2015, and it's easy to see why. With familiar and lovely songs like Getting to Know You and the rousing Shall We Dance, this venerable warhorse still lights up the stage, and I thoroughly recommend it!
