Previews begin tonight for the world premiere production of The Convent, a new play by critically acclaimed playwright Jessica Dickey (The Amish Project, Charles Ives Take Me Home), directed by Daniel Talbott.

Last night, the Critics' Choice Awards were announced. Taking home the top prize of Best Picture was Roma. Also, in a surprising turn of events, both Lady Gaga and Glenn Close took home the award for Best Actress, for A Star is Born and The Wife, respectively.

The Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association (BTJA) announced today the star-studded line up of presenters who will take the stage during the 24th Annual Critics' Choice Awards.  Previous #SeeHer Award recipient Viola Davis will present this year's honoree, Claire Foy, with her #SeeHer Award.  The cast of “The Big Bang Theory,” including Mayim Bialik, Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Jim Parsons, and Melissa Rauch will be on hand to recognize show creator Chuck Lorre with the Critics' Choice Creative Achievement Award, just in time to celebrate the show's final season.  Additional stars from some of this year's favorite films and television shows who will present throughout the evening include Awkwafina, Angela Bassett, Kristen Bell, Ted Danson, Nina Dobrev, Winston Duke, America Ferrera, Sara Gilbert, Josh Hutcherson, Stephan James, Jameela Jamil, Nicole Kidman, Joel Kinnaman, KiKi Layne, Eugene Levy, Justina Machado, Ricky Martin, Jeanine Mason, Chrissy Metz, Mandy Moore, Olivia Munn, Catherine O'Hara, Edgar Ramirez, Haley Lu Richardson, Sarah Silverman, Cole Sprouse, Ben Stiller, and Bradley Whitford.  They all join previously announced host Taye Diggs.

Netflix is set to adapt the 1950 film 'Harvey' with writers J. David Stem and David N. Weiss, according to Deadline. who are set to adapt a remake of the 1950 film. Fábrica de Cine id on board to produce this remake.

On Thursday, December 13th, Frank 'Fraver' Verlizzo will discuss his 5 decades as Broadway's award-winning theatrical poster designer with Broadway World's Richard Ridge in the Bruno Walter auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. Verlizzo, known as 'FRAVER,' is the author of the best-selling FRAVER BY DESIGN: Five Decades of Theatre Post Art from Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Beyond which was published in May by Schiffer Publishing. The book includes over 250 of his theatre poster designs from Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional and international productions. The Lincoln Center Library event begins at 6 pm and admission is free.

Deadline reports that Focus Features has landed the Jim Parsons star vehicle Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies, with The Big Sick's Michael Showalter directing and producing and David Marshall Grant and Dan Savage penning the screenplay.

The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced today the showcase of new independent feature films selected across all categories for the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. The Festival hosts screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City and at Sundance Mountain Resort, from January 24 - February 3, 2019.

Amazon Prime Video today announced it will premiere a Christmas episode of its hit kids series Pete The Cat on November 20 in the US and UK. Pete The Cat: A Very Groovy Christmas features all-new Christmas music from iconic singers Dave Matthews and Jason Mraz, among others. The Trevor Project will honor Emmy®, Golden Globe® and Peabody® Award-winning screenwriter, producer and director Ryan Murphy and the cast of the FX series POSE at The Trevor Project's TrevorLIVE Los Angeles gala for their commitment to supporting the nonprofit's mission to provide crisis intervention services and end suicide among gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning young people. The Old Globe today announced the cast and creative team for The Old Globe and University of San Diego Shiley Graduate Theatre Program presentation of William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. Directed by Allegra Libonati, the classic political tragedy will run October 20-28, 2018 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Tony Awards Administration Committee met today for the first time this season and confirmed the eligibility status of seven Broadway productions for the 2019 American Theatre Wing's Tony Awards®. The Tony Awards Administration Committee will meet a total of four times throughout the 2018-2019 season to decide the eligibility for the 73rd Annual Tony Awards.
