Barrymore-winning actor Michael Doherty will be performing as Georg in The Media Theatre's Philadelphia premiere of Spring Awakening. The Tony winning musical has a radio-friendly score by Duncan Sheik and is based on Frank Wedekind's 1891 piece focusing on the German students coming of age in a repressed society.

The Media Theatre Spring session of acting and voice classes begins Saturday March 17. All classes follow the Sanford Meisner Technique. This allows even young ages to focus on a pattern which allows them to be their own unique self, with no pretending in the script situation or copying someone else's performance. The practice also creates a stronger sense of self-awareness, which then applies to life off-stage in daily routines.

Sue Serio, who works on FOX-TV's "Good Day Philadelphia" as the weather anchor, will have her professional theatre debut in The Media Theatre's production of A. R. Gurney's play "Love Letters" through March 4. The play focuses on just two characters who read the notes, letters, and cards which express their dreams and disappointments that have passed between them throughout their lives-although they have been physically apart for nearly fifty years. Bill Vargus joins Sue Serio in this show that was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for drama.

The Media Theatre's 2012 fundraising Gala was held Saturday evening February 25. The weather was as supportive as the patrons and attendees, who were treated to a memorable performance by Broadway's legendary Andrea McArdle following a live auction enthusiastically appropriated by Jeffry Cadorette.

P. Brendan Mulvey, who has appeared in The Media Theatre's Titanic and Show Boat, will be given the Walter M. Strine Award at the theatre's annual Gala on Saturday evening, February 25. The annual award, named after the entrepreneur who revitalized the theatre in 1994 so that a professional music theatre would be a cornerstone of Media borough, will be given to Mulvey prior to the celebratory evening's concert by legendary Tony nominee Andrea McArdle. The honor is given to an individual who keeps the spirit of Mr. Strine alive with their consistent support and advocacy of The Media Theatre.

Philadelphia actor Dan Schiff, recently seen on The Media Theatre stage as Max in The Sound of Music, returns to Delaware County's only professional music theatre in the musical Wings. He plays two roles in the Jeffrey Lunden adaptation of Arthur Kopit's play about an aviatrix who suffers a stroke and must rediscover her inner spirit through rehabilitation.
