THEY, THEMSELF AND SCHMERM Receives West Coast Premiere

Artists Rep and PICA's Time-Based Art (TBA) Festival 2017 partner to co-present They, Themself and Schmerm, written and performed by New  York's Becca Blackwell, directed and developed by Ellie Heyman in collaboration with Jill Pangallo and Jess Barbagallo. This one-weekend production, the first of Artists Rep's 2017/18 FRONTIER SERIES bringing new work in performance to Portland, will run for four performances September 8 through September 11, 2017.

Queer|Art, the New York City-based non-profit, is pleased to introduce Queer|Art|Awards, a new program of grants, prizes, and awards that will provide various kinds of direct support-monetary and otherwise-to LGBTQ artists. Over time, Queer|Art|Awards seeks to include a spectrum of support that will benefit artists working in a variety of fields and mediums, as well as broader categories of support that will survey LGBTQ culture as a whole.

Part of The Tank's Save & Print series, CHARLESES runs through Saturday, April 29. The performance schedule isMonday, Wednesday - Sunday at 8 PM. Please note, the performances on Saturday, April 29 are at2 PM & 6 PM.  Performances are at The Brick (575 Metropolitan Avenue, at Lorimer). CHARLESES Begins Performances Tonight at The Brick

The world premiere of Carl Holder's CHARLESES begins performances tonight (Thursday, April 13) at The Brick (575 Metropolitan Avenue, at Lorimer). Meghan Finn returns to The Tank after directing last year's Drama Desk-nominated The Offending Gesture to helm the premiere production.

The Kitchen Presents Half Straddle's HERE I GO, PT. 2 OF YOU Tonight

The reclamation of spaces, ideas, and paradigms by female-identified and informed bodies and queer bodies embodying feminist ethos must be made paramount at this moment in American Life. Led by Half Straddle's Artistic Director, Tina Satter, Here I Go, pt. 2 of You is a two week open work period and colloquy, encompassing rehearsals and showings of new theater and video work; the launch of an online journal of performance writing; public lectures; and communal zine-making activities that will act as accessible discussion periods. 

Obie-Winner Julia Jarcho's THE TERRIFYING Comes to Abrons Arts Center

Abrons Arts Center presents the world premiere of The Terrifying by Obie award-winning playwright Julia Jarcho, who also directs. Running March 12-April 2, The Terrifying is performed by Jess Barbagallo, Kim Gainer, Kristine Haruna Lee, Hanna Novak, and Pete Simpson for an audience of 60 who are seated onstage at the Playhouse, close enough to hear a faint whisper. An immersive, live sound design by Obie-winner Ben Williams adds tension to the rich and intimate experience.

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center celebrates dozens of shows on Broadway, off-Broadway, and in theaters across the globe this 2016-17 season. Projects from the National Playwrights Conference and National Music Theater Conference have moved on to significant productions and even the Academy Awards.
