BroadwayWorld.com has confirmed that A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC recouped its initial investment. The first Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's Tony Award-winning masterpiece A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, directed by Tony Award-winner Trevor Nunn and starring Tony, Grammy & Golden Globe Award winner Bernadette Peters and Tony & Emmy Award winner Elaine Stritch, completes its critically acclaimed run this Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 3:00 PM after 20 previews and 425 regular performances at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48th Street).

MERCHANT OF VENICE Recoups Initial Investment, Goes on Hiatus 1/9

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson), Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel announced today that the Broadway production of Daniel Sullivan's critically acclaimed production of THE MERCHANT OF VENICE has recouped its capitalization of $3.45 million after only 10 weeks. The critically lauded Public Theater production that began at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park this past summer prior to moving to Broadway was one of the most well reviewed shows of the fall season and was a 'Top Ten Pick' by Ben Brantley of The New York Times who called it 'the most savory slice of Shakespeare served on Broadway in years, thanks in no small part to its magnificent stars: Al Pacino as Shylock and Lily Rabe as Portia.'

Pantages Theatre Welcomes HAIR, 1/5-23

The 2009 Tony Award-winning musical revival of HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical is coming to Los Angeles. HAIR will begin performances at the Pantages Theatre on January 5, 2011, playing a strictly-limited three-week engagement through January 23, 2011.

Wilson Jermaine Heredia to Join LA CAGE AUX FOLLES Feb. 15

It's just been announced that Wilson Jermaine Heredia, who famously created the drag queen role of Angel in the 1996 Off Broadway production of RENT before winning a Tony for the same role on Broadway will join LA CAGE AUX FOLLES on Broadway on February 15th. Heredia will replace Robin de Jesus in the part, and joins the production at the same time as new stars Harvey Fierstein and Jeffrey Tambor.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson), Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel announced a final extension today of Daniel Sullivan's critically acclaimed production of THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, starring Al Pacino as Shylock and Lily Rabe as Portia. Due to a film commitment in Mr. Pacino's schedule, THE MERCHANT OF VENICE will go on hiatus following the performance on Sunday, January 9 (when it was originally scheduled to close) and will resume performances on Tuesday, February 1 for an additional three week run through Sunday, February 20 at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 W. 44th Street). Six-time Emmy Award nominee Jeffrey Tambor ('Arrested Development,' 'The Larry Sanders Show') will make his Broadway musical debut as Georges opposite four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein as Albin in the Tony Award-winning revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES. Tambor and Fierstein will begin performances on Tuesday, February 15 at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street).
