Lortel Theatre Launches New Play Development Program - 'Alcove At The Lortel'

With the recent announcement of Lucille Lortel Theatre's purchase and renovation of a new theater space in Chelsea and its appointment of two new Co-Artistic Directors of New Work, Lucille Lortel Theatre has announced the launch of: The Alcove at the Lortel, a new play development program.  

Cast Announced For Edition 2 Of LIVING NEWSPAPER

True Story of the 1983 Production of Death of a Salesman at the Beijing People's Art Theatre Directed by Mr. Arthur Miller Himself From a Script Translated By Mr. Ying Ruocheng Who Also Played Willy Loman. Written by Jeremy Tiang and directed and developed by Obie Award-winner Michael Leibenluft, Salesmana??ae?? runs March 29a?"April 18, 2020, at Target Margin Theater's THE DOXSEE, (232 52nd Street, Brooklyn) with a press opening on April 6. Tickets are now on sale at targetmargin.org.

WHAT'S NEXT AFTER MARRIAGE EQUALITY New Plays from Taiwan Presented 11/14

In May 2019, Taiwan became the first Asian country to legalize same-sex marriage. Join us for an evening with Taiwanese playwrights Chao Chi-Yun (e??a??e??), Lin Meng-Huan (ae?-a??a??), and Liu Chien-Kuo (a??a??a?-) who have created new works embracing the achievements and struggles of this historic moment. This evening will feature three staged readings performed by a stellar cast of New York-based actors and directed by Michael Leibenluft of Gung Ho Projects. The readings will be followed by a discussion with the playwrights, curators, director, and translator Jeremy Tiang, moderated by Linnea Valdivia, Literary Manager for the National Queer Theater.

The Theater at the 14th Street Y continues to honor the edgy, diverse, and rich history of innovative culture-making in the East Village with the 2018-2019 Season. The Season kicks-off on September 5, 2018 and runs through May 2019. All productions are chosen through a submission process and are co-presented by the Theater at the 14th Street Y. Hundreds of artists apply every year to join the programming and have artistic discourse over a chosen theme.
