The Stage Raw Theater Awards celebrate excellence on Los Angeles-area stages. This year's Stage Raw “I'm Still Here” Theater Awards Party will recognize productions that opened in the calendar year 2022.

KPFK Radio's Arts in Review, Los Angeles's longest-running radio showcase on live theater and cabaret, airs Fridays (2-2:30pm) on KPFK 90.7FM. Today, September 4, host Julio Martinez welcomes director Asaad Kelada, producer Paula Holt and actress Jenny O'Hara, discussing the Rogue Machine Theatre's virtual premiere of the three-character stage play, a?oeThree Viewingsa?? by Jeffrey Hatcher.

This Spotlight focuses on Simon Levy who began his directing career in San Francisco, then moved to Los Angeles in 1990 where he has been the Producing Director for the Fountain Theatre since 1993. His directing and producing credits are numerous, with over 100 productions in Los Angeles and San Francisco that have won more than 200 awards. His journey has been blessed with having wonderful mentors along the way, which has enabled the talented director to earn his living doing theatre and earned him great respect from the entire L.A. Theatre community.

Mandy Kaplan has been producing, directing and performing in the cabaret sensation, Miscast: Right Singer, Wrong Song at Sterling's Upstairs at the Federal in the NoHo Arts District of North Hollywood, CA for 10 years, but she's not done entertaining audience yet.

Two venerable Los Angeles intimate theaters will each host a Mueller Report Read-A-Thon, offering Angelenos the opportunity to hear the Mueller Report read aloud, in its entirety, on either side of the City. The Fountain Theatre in East Hollywood will host a single, 15-hour event on Thursday, July 18 from 9 a.m. to midnight. The Odyssey Theatre Ensemble in West L.A. will hold a separate marathon reading, breaking it up into two 8-hour sessions on Monday, July 22 and Tuesday, July 23, each from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission to both Read-A-thons is free and open to the public.

SAG-AFTRA today announced the recipients for its third SAG-AFTRA American Scene Awards: Twentieth Century Fox Television for This Is Us, Atlantic Music Group for Hamilton (Original Broadway Cast Recording) and The Hamilton Mixtape, as well as the San Diego State University Research Foundation for KPBS San Diego.

Tony Award winner Betty Buckley (Broadway's "Cats," "Sunset Boulevard," "The Mystery Of Edwin Drood, "Song & Dance, "Pippin," "1776," "Triumph Of Love" and "Carrie"; M. Night Shyamalan's "Split"; and TV's "Eight Is Enough") was honored with the Julie Harris Award for Artistic Achievement on Sunday, June 11 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

The SAG-AFTRA National Board, meeting this weekend in Los Angeles at SAG-AFTRA Plaza, voted to set election and governance rules for the upcoming national convention.

The 13th Street Repertory Theater presents Perversion, a world premiere allegory of modern America written and directed by Judson Blake.  The cast of eight includes Harry Bainbridge, Daniel Cuff, Tony Del Bono, Dana Jesberger, Irina Kaplan, Robert Lewis, Andrew Nordin and Jenn Susi.  Thirty performances will be staged at the 13th Street Repertory Theater, 50 West 13th Street in NYC 10011 from March 30-April 30, 2017.

The revival of playwright Stephen Sach's BAKERSFIELD MIST features two stunning performances from Jenny O'Hara & Nick Ullett. O'Hara whole-heartedly grabs her role of the manic, desperate Maude. Ullett imbues his Lionel with a haughty air of condescension upon entering Maude's trailer home. Ullett's very calm demeanor perfectly balances the high energy antics of O'Hara.
