Ballet Hispanico, recognized as the preeminent Latino dance institution in the United States, presents the return of its groundbreaking choreography institute, Instituto Coreográfíco, held today, June 4 through June 15, 2012, at the company's headquarters at 167 W. 89th Street, NYC. This year's Instituto Coreográfico features choreographers Rosie Herrerra and Abdul Latif with panelists Richard Chen See, Francesca Harper, and Risa Steinberg.

Dance New Amsterdam (DNA), NYC's foremost progressive dance education and performance center, presents the world premiere of Compagnie Julie Bour's Why Now?. Developed through DNA's artist residency program, the premiere of Why Now? marks the culmination of the three-year process and the completion of the three-chapter work. The performances will take place October 21-22, 8:00 p.m.; October 23, 3:00 p.m.

A.R.T. American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) opens its 2011-12 season with The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, by George Gershwin, DuBose and Dorothy Heyward, and Ira Gershwin. The adaptation by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks and Obie Award-winning composer Diedre L. Murray, directed by A.R.T. Artistic Director Diane Paulus, with choreography by Ronald K. Brown, begins previews on August 17 and opens for the reviewing press on August 31 at 7pm. Performances are at the Loeb Drama Center, 64 Brattle Street, Cambridge. Tickets for preview performances are currently on sale, remaining tickets for the run go on sale on July 12. Paper Mill Playhouse has just announced the full creative team behind its season opener, the premiere of a new Disney stage musical, Newsies. Featuring music by eight-time Academy Award®-winning composer Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Sister Act, The Little Mermaid), lyrics by Jack Feldman and a new book by four-time Tony® Award winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage aux Folles, Torch Song Trilogy), Newsies is adapted for the stage from the 1992 live-action Disney feature film musical. The show begins performances on Thursday, September 15. The official press opening is scheduled for Sunday, September 25.

Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at the Music Center announces the ninth season of its international dance series. Six companies representing the United States, Scotland, France, Switzerland and Russia will participate in 22 performances at the Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and Ahmanson Theatre, in a season that is not only culturally diverse, but also boasts a residency by Diavolo Dance Theater, a Music Center co-commission with Penn State and a part of Pacific Standard Time: Art in L.A. 1945-1980, an initiative of the Getty in collaboration with more than 60 cultural institutions across Southern California.
