Long shadows, hungry desires, sad clowns and devastating dreams. These are sparks in the devised theatre-making at the heart of THE SECRET PARIS PROJECT. The Project features an ensemble of eight clowns as they exploring the sad, queer world of Paris in the 1930s. Inspired by Brassai's photographs from Le Monocle in Paris during this period, this ensemble of women is working within the fading art of clowning in order to breathe new life into our complex connections with queer histories in order to imagine undreamt utopias. Accompanied by a live percussionist, Abby Fisher, this new, breathtaking production questions desire and longing through the potent laughter and inescapable tears that can only be found in the mysterious world of clowns.
