Single Tickets For A.C.T.'s 2019–20 Season On Sale This Friday

Tony Award winner and American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Artistic Director Pam MacKinnon and Executive Director Jennifer Bielstein announced today that tickets for A.C.T.'s 2019a?'20 season will be available beginning Friday, August 9 at 10 a.m

The Lark Announces 2019-20 New Voices Fellows

The Lark has announced that playwrights Xavier Galva and Ife Olujobi have been selected as the recipients of the 2019-20 New Voices Fellowship, supported by the Jerome Foundation. This year long residency is designed to support extraordinary playwrights of color under 30, in order to to help address the lack of inclusion of early career playwrights of color in the field. The Fellowship includes a cash award of $15,000, plus a $3,000 Opportunity Fund for the purposes of research, travel, or other expenses, as well as access to The Lark's artistic resources and support. The New Voices program is part of a portfolio of Fellowships at The Lark, which aims to engage a diverse community of playwrights from around the world, at various places in their careers.

Chris Fields directs the Echo Theater Company production, set to open on Sept. 7 for a seven-week run through Oct. 21. Three a?oepay what you wanta?? previews take place on Sept. 4, Sept. 5 and Sept. 6.

New York Youth Symphony Announces Its 57th Season Of Concerts And Venues

New York Youth Symphony (NYYS), is proud to continue its mission of educating and inspiring young musicians through its Orchestra, Jazz, Chamber Music, Composition, Musical Theater Composition, Apprenticeship Conducting, and First Music commissioning programs. This season includes seven world premieres of new works commissioned through the First Music program, composed for the Orchestra, Jazz, and Chamber Music ensembles. The season also features renowned and up-and-coming soloists including prodigy pianist Harmony Zhu, 2019 Sphinx Competition winner cellist Sterling Elliott, and leading young pianist Michelle Cann in the Carnegie Hall premiere of Florence Price's recently re-discovered Piano Concerto in One Movement with NYYS Orchestra, as well as in-demand drummer Matt Wilson, celebrated saxophonist Steve Wilson, and trombone virtuoso Wycliffe Gordon with NYYS Jazz. Alice is the fourth in a quartet of East End-based plays by James Kenworth, all dealing with revolution and social change, and all performed in appropriate locations.

Craig Finn Announces Fall Tour Dates

Craig Finn has announced another series of live dates surrounding his acclaimed new solo album, I Need A New War. The headline tour – which sees Finn backed by his touring band, The Uptown Controllers – begins November 1 at Austin, TX's Cactus Cafe Presents at the Texas Union Theater before heading to the west coast. Support for this round of US dates only will be Cassandra Jenkins, who appears on I Need A New War and joined Finn for a special concert performance at Brooklyn, NY's Murmrr Theatre earlier this year. Five Boroughs Music Festival (5BMF) announces programming for its 13th season in 2019-2020, continuing its mission of bringing affordable, world-class performances of traditional and contemporary chamber music to all five boroughs of New York City. The upcoming slate of concerts feature the Longleash Trio, Founders, Ars Longa de la Habana, Parthenia, LeStrange Viols, and Alkemie with Elliot Cole, as well as partnerships with Music on Madison, Gotham Early Music/Americas Society (GEMAS) and the Baryshnikov Arts Center.

AMC Announces First Two Projects In Development As Part Of Latoya Morgan's Scripted Inclusion Initiative

AMC announced today from the Television Critics' Association (TCA) Press Tour two projects in development as part of the AMC Scripted Inclusion Initiative in collaboration with LaToya Morgan which launched the last year. Farmhand, based on the comic from Eisner and Harvey award-winning creator Rob Guillory about a Southern farmer who grows plant-based organ transplants and Of Two Minds, about a woman who must rebuild her life after a brain injury, are both in active development at AMC.  Additional projects will also be developed under this initiative.
