Rite of Summer Music Festival concludes its fifth, most musically and culturally diverse season yet with Imani Winds performing two free shows at 1 & 3pm today, August 1st.

ChamberMusicNY, a nonprofit presenting organization, has announced that its 2015-16 season will include the innovative PUBLIQuartet, the ensemble SHUFFLE Concert, a jazz quintet, The Harlem Chamber Players and American Modern Ensemble.

New Jersey Performing Arts Center is proud to announce the TD James Moody Jazz Festival, headlined by the legendary Tony Bennett, from November 7-15, 2015. With help from NJPAC Jazz Advisor Christian McBride, this festival promises to be one of the largest gatherings for jazz fans on the East Coast, showcasing all-star line-ups with some of the country's best musicians, such as Dianne Reeves, Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings and the Sarah Vaughan Vocal Competition. Now in its fourth year, the festival offers nine days of concerts, panel discussions and workshops around Newark, in honor of saxophonist, bebop pioneer, and Newark native James Moody.

This event celebrates, and is in appreciation of, living composers; the program consists of sixteen pieces of music written expressly for Mr. Levy and his colleagues [the majority will be World or New York premiere performances].

The composers represented include Nancy Bloomer Deussen, Eric Ewazen, Patrick Finley, David Gilbert, James Grant, Ben Hackett, John Lampkin, Dennis Leogrande, Fred Messner, Godfrey Schroth, Paul Mack Somers, and Joseph Turrin. The performers joining Mr. Levy will be E. Scott Brubaker, horn; Theron Cromer, tenor; his granddaughter Madelyne, piano; and the critically-acclaimed and award-winning Palisades Virtuosi (Margaret Swinchoski, flute/Donald Mokrynski, clarinet/ & Ron Levy, piano).

One of the unspoken thrills of theatre is getting ready for each performance. The prep-work involves putting on wigs, applying make-up, zipping up costumes, and (in the case of My Fair Lady) applying facial hair.
