There's a new generation of musical theater mavericks taking New York City by storm. The days of the standard musical are waning and the genres as you know them are bending into exciting hybrids. From rock music to interactive productions and quirky subject matter, these pioneers are breaking the barriers of the traditional musical by creating original productions that vibrate with today's savvy and diverse audience. Just last night, SAG Foundation & Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation presented The New Generation of Musical Theatre- a special panel discussion at Baruch Performing Arts Center.

Full casting is announced today for the London Premiere of Broadway musical [title of show], which will play at the Landor Theatre from Wednesday 7 August (press night Monday 12 August) to Saturday 14 September 2013. The cast will feature Simon Bailey as 'Jeff', Scott Garnham as 'Hunter', Sarah Galbraith as 'Susan' and Sophia Ragavelas as 'Heidi'.

MOTHER DIVINE: The Musical, an official selection of the New York Musical Festival's Next Link Project, will begin performances July 11th at the PTC Performance Space (Pearl Theatre Company). Last night, June 17, stars of Broadway, TV and Film in celebrated the 100th anniversary of Actors' Equity Association (AEA), the oldest performing arts union representing 49,000 professional stage actors and stage managers working on Broadway, off-Broadway and regionally across the US. Last night, The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center honored Christopher Plummer at a gala event in New York City. The 13th Annual Monte Cristo Award was presented to Mr. Plummer by fellow stage and film legend Kevin Spacey. Mr. Spacey was the recipient of the Monte Cristo Award in 2009.
