The Seeing Place Theater, known for intense & intimate ensemble work, concludes its 9th Season with two compelling plays running in rotating repertory: THE MAIDS by Jean Genet involves two sisters, enslaved maids to a wealthy society woman, who act out fantasies of class, love and revenge while the lady of the house is out on a romantic rendezvous. MEASURE FOR MEASURE by William Shakespeare involves a young novice nun who is compromised by a corrupt official - who offers to save her brother from execution in return for sex. When she threatens to expose him, he tells her that no one would believe her.
Rehearsals began this week for The Jamie Lloyd Company production of Harold Pinter's Betrayal which runs at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 5 March 2019 for a strictly limited season ending on 1 June. BAAD! The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance proudly presents Los Nutcrackers: A Christmas Carajo, written by Charles Rice-Gonzalez and directed by Fernando Vieira. This year marks the play's 15th anniversary and the first year that Vieira helms the work. The play interweaves two holiday classics, The Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol, and creates a queer, Latino play about a gay couple who go on a psychedelic trip through their lives one Christmas Eve.
