A SUPER HAPPY STORY (ABOUT FEELING SUPER SAD) to Kick Off the 2020 Brits Off Broadway Season at 59E59 Theaters

59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director), will welcome the US premiere of A SUPER HAPPY STORY (ABOUT FEELING SUPER SAD), written by Jon Brittain and directed by Alex Mitchell, with music by Matthew Floyd Jones. Produced by Silent Uproar and James Seabright for Brits Off Broadway, A SUPER HAPPY STORY (ABOUT FEELING SUPER SAD) begins performances on Tuesday, April 14 for a limited engagement through Sunday, May 3.

Every Tuesday night, four volunteers gather in a drab branch of Brightline taking phone calls from strangers facing hardship. Outside, the world is falling apart. As they try to help the callers, they attempt to conceal their anxieties and fears while trying to deal with their own personal catastrophes.

This latest play from bold new writing theatre company Fifth Word and co-producer Nottingham Playhouse focuses on the stages of grief and the ways we find to cope, exploring love, friendship and human connection. Written by James Fritz, the play is set in the aftermath of a natural disaster which has struck London.

Casting Announced For THE SEASON

Royal & Derngate, Northampton, and New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich, have announced Tori Allen-Martin and Alex Cardall as the cast for their co-production of the new musical, The Season, by 2018 MTI Stiles + Drewe Mentorship Award winners, Jim Barne and Kit Buchan, playing in Northampton and Ipswich in November. The production will be directed by Tim Jackson and designed by Amy Jane Cook.

The Watermill Theatre announces the cast for Oscar Wilde's comic masterpiece THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST which runs at the theatre from Thursday 23 May to Saturday 29 June. Wilde's most enduring play in which Victorian hypocrisies are laid bare is directed by Kate Budgen who says:

Full Casting Announced For YOU STUPID DARKNESS!

Paines Plough and Theatre Royal Plymouth have today announced the full cast for YOU STUPID DARKNESS!, a World Premiere from Sam Steiner (Lemons, Lemons, Lemons, Lemons, Lemons; Kanye the First), directed by Paines Plough Joint Artistic Director James Grieve. The new play, set in a call centre for Brightline helpline, looks at the struggle for optimism and community amid the chaos of a collapsing world. The cast includes David Carlyle, Andrew Finnigan, Becci Gemmell and Lydia Larson. The production marks the continuation of a long-standing relationship between Paines Plough and Theatre Royal Plymouth and follows the success of Love, Love, Love and The Angry Brigade.

Creative Team Announced For THE FUNERAL DIRECTOR

Papatango today announce the creative team for The Funeral Director by Iman Qureshi - winner of the 10th annual New Writing Prize. The creative team includes Artistic Director and co-founder of Damsel Productions, Hannah Hauer King (Director), 2017 winner of Best Design at the Wales Theatre Awards, Amy Jane Cook (Designer), WhatsOnStage Award and two time Off West End Award nominee for Best Lighting Design, Jack Weir (Lighting Designer) and Max Pappenheim (Sound Designer) who has extensive credits across London and Broadway and is currently working on Hogarth's Progress at Rose Theatre Kingston.

Patch Theatre Company Implements a Creative Education Partnership with Sturt Street Primary School

Leading South Australian children's theatre company, Patch Theatre, have again demonstrated why they are the kings of creativity when it comes to specialising in theatre for 3 - 8 year olds. With funding assistance through Arts SA, Patch have partnered with Sturt Street Community School to establish a creative education partnership and 12-month Artist in Residence program at the school where students get to meaningfully participate in the company's art-making adventures as co-creators in and around their performance experiences.
