A modern take on an old-fashioned romantic farce, where five intertwined lives wind up in a secluded New York cabin. These are the plays that comprise the 2018-19 'Jan McArt New Play Readings' series, to be presented at Boca Raton's Lynn University beginning Monday, October 22nd.

Manatee Performing Arts Center is pleased to announce Manatee Players' world premiere of The Long Reunion, which runs May 24-27 in the Bradenton Kiwanis Theater. The show was written by internationally produced, award-winning playwright, Jack Gilhooley, who resides in Manatee County. The Long Reunion humorously addresses the issue of rising tides as witnessed by three Manatee High School graduates over the course of four decades.

Three prominent Puerto Rican musicians have collaborated to bring a world-premiere event to Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. Flutist Nestor Torres, composer Mariano Morales and conductor Guillermo Figueroa will join forces in the Concerto for Flute and Orchestra by Mariano Morales.

Kings of Harlem, an exuberant play about an African-American basketball team in the 1930s and Sunday in the Park with George, Stephen Sondheim's intricate musical about painter George Seurat, took their respective places in South Florida theatrical history as Best Play and Best Musical on Monday, April 2, when the winners of the 42nd annual Carbonell Awards were announced. The ceremony was held at Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale.

As the South Florida theater community prepares for the 42nd  annual Carbonell Awards, the recipients of the prestigious George Abbott Award, Charlie Cinnamon Award, Howard Kleinberg Award  and Ruth Foreman Award, have been announced. These special award-winners will be recognized on stage during the evening's ceremony as their contributions are celebrated.

Erich Bergen doesn't utilize his singing and dancing talents on the CBS television series Madam Secretary, but he displayed them magnificently last night at Lynn University.  Jan McArt, producer of the highly popular Live at Lynn series literally had to send a car and plane to fetch Erich off the set of Madam Secretary (which is filmed in New York City) to get him on the stage of the Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center at Lynn for 'A Perfect Evening with Erich Bergen'. Jan also has to get him back to NYC after his matinee performance the following day at Lynn for the filming of this season's last episode of the the TV show. 

According to award-winning playwright Dan Clancy, his latest work 'A HOME tells the story of a Brooklyn family over the course of 60 years. You will easily find your own story in theirs.'

Happy Days Were Here Again at Lynn University last night because Ann Hampton Callaway sang the Barbra Streisand Songbook at Jan McCart's Live at Lynn Series. Arguably, one of the finest performers in the music world, Ann is also a composer and lyricist and her songs can be heard on seven of Barbara Streisand's albums. If you happened to be at Barbra's wedding to James Brolin you know that Ann's lyrics were sung by Barbra to the groom.

Jon Robertson, dean of Lynn University Conservatory of Music and Philharmonia Guest Conductor, today invited the public to attend 17 musical performances during March and April 2018, including the collaborative production of Jerry Herman's Milk and Honey in recognition of the 70th anniversary of the birth of Israel.

Lynn University today music fans to a free concert featuring the internationally acclaimed Jazz Ambassadors, the official touring big band of the United States Army. The concert will be held the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center on the Lynn Campus at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 10.
