Lynn University's Conservatory Of Music Kicks Off October And November With 12 Events

Jon Robertson, dean of Lynn University's Conservatory of Music and Philharmonia guest conductor, today invited the public to attend 12 musical performances this Oct. and Nov.

Conservatory of Music concerts run through May in the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center, the Amarnick-Goldstein Concert Hall or the Snyder Sanctuary, all located on Lynn's Boca Raton campus.

Oct. 7

2018 Lynn Concerto Competition Final Round

Finalists perform before three guest judges in morning and afternoon sessions. Winners perform as soloists with the Lynn Philharmonia on Nov. 10 and Nov. 11 with Maestro Guillermo Figueroa conducting.

Piano Master Class with Lydia Artymiw

The recipient of an Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Andrew Wolf Chamber Music Prize, Philadelphia-born Lydia Artymiw has performed with over 100 orchestras including the Boston Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Detroit Symphony, LA Philharmonic, Cincinnati Symphony, St. Luke's Chamber Orchestra and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. She has been a guest piano teacher at the Juilliard School and presented master classes at both Juilliard and the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia. Artymiw is a Distinguished McKnight Professor of Piano and recipient of the 2015 Excellence in Graduate Teaching Award at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, where she has taught since 1989.

Guest Artist: Ann Shoemaker

Ann Shoemaker is professor of bassoon at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and the principal bassoon with the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra. Her recital features works from her recently released album, New Standards: Works for bassoon and piano. She is joined on the stage by Lynn Bassoon Faculty, Eric Van der Veer Varner.
