As the girls sing their way through the greatest girl-group hits of the '60s and bid Ms. McPherson a fond farewell, one of the Wonderettes reveals she'll also be saying goodbye to search for success and happiness on her own.

The Metropolitan Opera Has Announced its 2020–21 Season

Today, the Metropolitan Opera announced its 2020-21 season, the first in which Yannick Nézet-Séguin assumes his full breadth of musical duties as the company's Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, conducting six productions. His schedule includes the Met premiere of Jake Heggie's Dead Man Walking, the first contemporary opera conducted by the maestro on the Met stage, as part of his ongoing commitment to opera of our time at the Met, which will expand in the seasons to come.

Houston Grand Opera Announces 2020 Concert Of Arias Winners

Houston Grand Opera (HGO) announced today the winners of the 32nd annual Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers Concert of Arias, which took place in the Cullen Theater of the Wortham Theater Center. This is the fourth year the Concert of Arias was streamed live on Facebook, and the third for livestreaming on YouTube. The livestream was hosted by HGO Studio alumna Jamie Barton. She is currently performing the title role in La favorite and placed third in the 2007 Concert of Arias. The winners were announced during the second portion of the program. 

TexARTS Will Present THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES: DREAM ON

The TexARTS Professional Series presents The Marvelous Wonderettes: Dream On written and created by Roger Bean and vocal and musical arrangements by Michael Borth. Performances will take place February 14 - March 1, 2020 at the Kam & James Morris Theatre in Lakeway.

The 2020 George London Award Finals Will Take Place Friday, February 21, at The Morgan

On February 21, 2020, some of the best young American and Canadian opera singers will perform with pianist Lydia Brown before a panel of judges and an enthusiastic audience at The Morgan Library & Museum. At the event's conclusion, a few of them will be named this year's winners of the George London Award, an honor that has been conferred upon hundreds of the best young singers since 1971. The award, currently a $10,000 prize, is named for the legendary Canadian-American bass-baritone, one of the greatest opera singers of 20th century.

Houston Grand Opera Has Announced Concert of Arias 2020 Semifinalists

Houston Grand Opera (HGO) has selected the semifinalists for the 32nd annual Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers Concert of Arias, to be presented in the Wortham Theater Center on Feb. 7, 2020 at 7 p.m. A limited number of tickets for the performance are available for purchase here. The program will also be streamed live on Facebook and YouTube for all to enjoy, inviting viewers to cast their votes for the Online Viewers' Choice Award.

Roberto Aronica sings Calàf, the suitor who risks his head for her hand and sings the famed aria a?oeNessun dorma.a?? Eleonora Buratto is the slave girl Liù, and James Morris is Calàf's long-lost father, Timur. Turandot comes to The Ridgefield Playhouse on the big screen in HD on Monday, October 14th at 2pm, part of the Classical Series underwritten by Jeanne Cook, Liz & Steven Goldstone, and Sabina & Walter Slavin, with support from Whistle Stop Bakery.

The Warner Will Screen Puccini's TURANDOT Live From The Met

The 2019-2020 season of The Met: Live in HD will open at the Warner Theatre on Saturday, October 12 with Puccini's TURANDOT at 12:55 pm in the Nancy Marine Studio Theatre. The 2019-2020 season is sponsored by Viron Rondo Osteria. A complimentary 45 minute pre-opera lecture by Dr. Marguerite Mullee will be offered in the Studio Theatre Lobby two hours before the broadcast, sponsored by Land Rover Hartford.

Metropolitan Opera Cast Change Advisory: TURANDOT

Yusif Eyvazov will sing Calàf in the October 3, 6mat, 9, and 12mat performances of Puccini's Turandot, replacing Roberto Aronica, who has withdrawn for personal reasons. Riccardo Massi will sing the role in performances on October 19mat, 23, 26; the singer for the role in the October 31 performance will be announced at a later date.
