ArtsWest Announces 19-20 Season: Agents Of Change

Artistic Director Mathew Wright today announced AGENTS OF CHANGE, ArtsWest's 2019-20 Season, with six productions - featuring plays by Tony and Nobel Prize-winning playwrights, a boldly reimagined classic, and a world premiere from local luminary Sara Porkalob - all centered on revolutions, and the people who create, fuel and represent them.

The Drama League (Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, Executive Artistic Director) today announced the 2019 Drama League Awards Nominees for Outstanding Production of a Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Production of a Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Musical, and the much-coveted Distinguished Performance Award. The nominations were announced this morning by the current stars of Waitress, Shoshana Bean and Jeremy Jordan, at the official announcement event at Sardi's Restaurant, which was streamed live online here at BroadwayWorld.

Play On Shakespeare With CSC And OSF Present PLAY ON! FESTIVAL

Play On Shakespeare in association with Classic Stage Company (CSC) and Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) presents the Play on! festival-featuring 39 readings of new, work-in-progress translations of Shakespeare's plays into contemporary modern English by some of today's most exciting playwrights-May 29-June 30 at the Lynn F. Angelson Theater at CSC (136 E. 13th Street).In 2015, Oregon Shakespeare Festival launched an ambitious 39-play, three-year commissioning project, Play on!, tasking 36 playwrights-more than half of whom were women and playwrights of color, each paired with a dramaturg-to translate Shakespeare's canon in celebration of the enduring impact of the Bard's work. Supported by a generous grant from the Hitz Foundation and inspired by long-time patron Dave Hitz's passion for Shakespeare, the project was and continues to be led by Lue Morgan Douthit. Kokandy Productions Announces Chicago Premiere Of HEAD OVER HEELS

Kokandy Productions is pleased to announce the Chicago premiere of the bold new musical comedy HEAD OVER HEELS, featuring songs by The Go-Go's, based on The Arcadia by Sir Phillip Sidney, conceived and original book by Jeff Whitty and adapted by James Magruder. Making its Chicago debut just six months after concluding its Broadway run, HEAD OVER HEELS is co-directed by Kokandy's new Producing Artistic Director Derek Van Barham and Elizabeth Swanson, with music direction by Kyra Leigh and choreography by Breon Arzell. Casting will be announced shortly. HEAD OVER HEELS will play July 1 - August 25, 2019 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago. Fresh from its Broadway run, Head Over Heels-featuring the songs of 80s music icons The Go-Go's-will make its Midwest premiere at The Ringwald. Running from May 10 to June 10, this production will replace Fun Home on The Ringwald's season calendar.

Actor's Express to Present Go-Go's Broadway Musical HEAD OVER HEELS

Actor's Express presents the outrageous musical Head Over Heels, featuring the songs of The Go-Go's, July 20 - August 25, 2019. Directed by Artistic Director Freddie Ashley, Actor's Express will stage one of the first post-Broadway productions of this bold new musical comedy. Breaking: HEAD OVER HEELS Will Go-Go in 2019- Final Performance Set for January 6!

Head Over Heels, the new musical comedy featuring the iconic songs of The Go-Go's - the most successful female rock band of all time - will play its final Broadway performance at Hudson Theatre (141 West 44th Street) on Sunday, January 6, 2019. Head Over Heels, which began preview performances on Saturday, June 23 and officially opened on Thursday, July 26, 2018, will have played 188 regular performances and 37 previews.

BWW Review: Sir Philip Sidney Meets The Go-Go's in Love-Happy Romp, HEAD OVER HEELS

Fans of late 16th Century pastoral poetic narrative tragicomedy have been all abuzz anticipating the Broadway arrival of the new song and dance adaptation of a Sir Philip Sidney classic. But rather than go the obviously commercial route and title their creation 'The Countess of Pembroke's Arcadia, the Musical,' the creators have opted to call their peppy merriment HEAD OVER HEELS.
