Phyllis Peters, an author and educator, is on a mission to raise money toward Alzheimer's research. Peters is using proceeds from her novel, Untethered: A Caregiver's Tale, to aid in the efforts at eradicating this devastating disease. By collaborating with Alz.org, an organization Peters turned to as a caregiver herself, she seeks to support their research center, which has funded projects worldwide in the fight against dementia and Alzheimer's in excess of $300 million. Peters is donating 100 percent of the book's profits to the center.
For its annual summer family show, the Alhambra Theatre & Dining will stage the Andrew Lloyd Webber hit, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. Written by Weber with lyrics by Tim Rice, this Biblical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colors comes to vibrant life in this delightful musical parable. Joseph, his father's favorite son, is a boy blessed with prophetic dreams. When he is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and taken to Egypt, Joseph endures a series of adventures in which his spirit and humanity are continually challenged. Set to an engaging cornucopia of musical styles, from country-western and calypso to bubble-gum pop and rock 'n' roll, this Old Testament tale emerges both timely and timeless. The show opened in London's West End in 1973 and then on Broadway in 1982. It has enjoyed several revivals, including a current UK tour since 2010.

If you're a BWW.com regular, you know that we have taken a shine to a relatively new not-for-profit group, The Broadway Dreams Foundation. We saw first-hand, last summer, in Philadelphia and were pretty much blown away. Monday night served as an explosive showcase for the group, who came from all over the country and the evening was put together by Director, Richard Jay-Alexander and Artistic Director, James Kinney.
