Segal Centre Presents The North American Premiere Of MYTHIC

The Segal Centre is proud to continue its mission of developing and premiering new musical theatre works with top Canadian talent with a new pop/rock musical about the Greek goddess Persephone. Directed by Brian Hill and featuring a high-energy score filled with epic anthems by Marcus Stevens and Oran Eldor, the North American premiere of Mythic will be in the Sylvan Adams Theatre from October 27 to November 17, 2019. 

Shaw Festival's OH WHAT A LOVELY WAR Explores Canadian Voices

Niagara-on-the-Lake's World War I connections - from residents who enlisted to the garrisoned troops being entertained in the Royal George Theatre - are highlighted in director Peter Hinton's re-improvised Oh What a Lovely War. With music direction by Paul Sportelli and movement direction by Alexis Milligan, this provocative production about the theatre of war begins previews at the Royal George Theatre on July 14.

Check In At The Glitzy GRAND HOTEL

A collection of eccentrics sashay through the revolving doors of the Grand Hotel as the Golden Twenties in Weimar Berlin comes alluringly to life in the Shaw Festival's main stage musical Grand Hotel. Directed by Eda Holmes, with music direction by Paul Sportelli and choreography by Parker Esse, Grand Hotel soars with song and dance encapsulating the era's zest for life. Grand Hotel begins previews May 3 at the Festival Theatre.

BWW Review: MASTER HAROLD...AND THE BOYS at Shea's 710 Theatre

For it's second season offering the Shaw Festival and Shea's 710 Theatre in Buffalo chose to present Athol Fugard's MASTER HAROLD....AND THE BOYS. The production was a hit during Shaw's 2016 Festival in Niagara on the Lake and besides Buffalo, it recently was presented in Montreal.

Segal Centre Multi-Award-Winning MASTER HAROLD...AND THE BOYS Comes To Montreal

The Segal Centre, in association with Black Theatre Workshop, is proud to present the acclaimed production of Master Harold and the Boys by the Shaw Festival in association with Obsidian Theatre. One of Athol Fugard's most powerful plays, this Dora Award-winning production will be on the Segal stage from January 21 to February 11, 2018. Fueled by the South African playwright's recollections of his youth, this incendiary play lights a fuse that ultimately explodes the subtle corruption of living in an environment where systemic racism is condoned or even encouraged; addressing racial injustice that lingers far beyond its apartheid era setting.

COME FROM AWAY Leads Toronto Theatre Critics Awards

Best Musical Tony Award contender COME FROM AWAY won big at the Toronto Theatre Critics Awards including Best New Musical, Best Production of a Musical, and Best Direction of a Musical. Mirvish Productions produced the show at the Royal Alexandra Theatre last December before it moved down to New York.

Ross Petty Productions Presents the Canadian Cast for SLEEPING BEAUTY

As previously announced, Hilary Farr of HGTV's Love it or List It will star as the unfairest of fairies, dead set on renovating and re-designing the Kingdom of Torontonia in her own grim image.AJ Bridel (Kinky Boots) is Sleeping Beauty, the Princess Rose. Being blessed with beauty, light and harmony is not enough for Rose and her squad goals. She wants to help the less fortunate creatures of the kingdom by opening an ogre orphanage or a unicorn sanctuary. James Daly (Master Harold and the Boys, Uncle Vanya/Shaw Festival) is Luke the lutist, Rose's shy music instructor who is part troll, but doesn't think he has a chance with her Highness.

BWW Review: UNCLE VANYA is a Fresh Take on a Chekov Classic

The Shaw Festival continues to launch its 2016 season with a fresh take on another classic - this time Anton Chekov's UNCLE VANYA. This moving dramedy explores family harmony and dysfunction with budding loyalties and conflicting love. Jackie Maxwell, outgoing artistic director at the Shaw Festival brings to life this new adaptation by Annie Baker. It's a crisp translation with contemporary overtones that brings this Chekov classic to the new age. Neil Barclay stars as the title role and leads a talented ensemble including Donna Belleville, Kate Besworth, James Daly, Sharry Flett, Marla McLean, Patrick McManus, Peter Millard, Moya O'Connell and David Schurmann.

Shaw Festival Announces Principal Casting for 2016 Season

Artistic Director Jackie Maxwell and the Shaw Festival announce principal casting and the creative teams for the 2016 playbill. The 2016 season features new and core ensemble members and beloved returning artists celebrating Ms. Maxwell's final season and 14-year tenure at The Shaw.
