It's cloudy and grey in Nashville today, which is perhaps fitting as people from all over gather to mourn the passing of Bernie Arnold, the matriarch of the first family of Nashville theater. But being mournful is the last thing you can come up with when remembering Bernie and her late, devoted husband, Henry Arnold (known as 'Buddy' to his legions of fans, students and admirers). Rather, any memory of the revered pair of theatrical talents is limned with joy, amazement and unbridled admiration.

Last night at the Waldorf Astoria New York, guests and a panel of culinary luminaries gathered to select the next Taste of Waldorf Astoria from five dishes created in the kitchens of Waldorf Astoria Berlin, Rome Cavalieri, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian, La Quinta Resort & Club, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, and Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund. The winning dish, Celery Risotto Alla Waldorf, is the result of a week-long collaboration in Rome between Waldorf Astoria Master Chef Heinz Beck and JBF Rising Star Semi-Finalist Chef David Posey at Rome Cavalieri.

Chef Mathieu Chartron of Restaurant Guy Savoy at Caesars Palace has been named a semifinalist for the 2015 James Beard Awards. Chartron is recognized as a semifinalist for the Rising Star of the Year category, and is one of seven nominations to come from Las Vegas. Chartron and fellow semifinalists were selected by the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards Committee, composed of critics, writers and editors, from nearly 35,000 submissions.
